I don’t care if you call me a troll or not.
That’s the numbers I heard.
Good luck guys. The CDMA was fun, I enjoyed it and felt alive… ;)

Notification on Oct 11 and last day Oct 18. Confirmed?
For impacted mgrs. training is ongoing
We’ll know soon. Just check CA’s roll up today and a month from now. It’ll all be clear.
They aren’t cutting 3K from San Diego.
50% were coming from China. Even if that number was walked back somewhat, we aren’t cutting over 6K positions. There is no way we’re losing more than maybe 1200-1400 in San Diego. Realistically we may lose 3K globally.
@1dcf+1oXL9ima I think this is true for all sites. Nothing wrong is happening in your site. Don’t you see that nobody knows anything for sure even in SD? There are all rumors flying around which are possibly not reaching over to your site
@1dcf, don't you love the "transparency"?
@eko, I'm a manager and I don't know who is being impacted. Maybe that means I'm impacted as well, but from what I've read, it seems as if most middle managers don't have a clue who is being let go.
Doesn't matter the number really. It's all large numbers. For each of us it's binary in the end.
Something weird is happening on my site, none of managers and chief engineers have any information on the upcoming layoff. Percentage unknown, notification date not sure, the only thing we are told is we will be impacted for sure, and the list is made by the department sr director. This is so fu----g weird.
My source has been correct so far on multiple roudns… it’s 3k in SD.
I heard it is 1500 from someone who knew the number last time and was correct. Whatever the number is, it is brutal for most that are impacted. Good luck everyone. Don’t forget that this is NOT the end of the world. Be strong and look for better opportunities.
What exactly is this volunteer thing? Not heard anything about how it’s done or if it was even an option. In this special case?
I'm volunteering for early retirement, and my boss (unofficially) said 20-40 percent in SD, depending on the department. Good luck to you all.
Managers already know the list !
If a manager said he does not know, he is either lying, or himself is impacted.
I would guess most managers probably wouldn’t know until the day of. By then it would be final. Maybe there is I still some final decisions to be made.
Do managers know who are laid off already by now? Mine has no mention of it whatsoever during Wednesday's team meeting, amazingly enough.
1314 headcount reduction in 2015
1231 headcount reduction in 2018
around 450 headcount reduction in May,2023
October,2023 ????
That is tremendous impact for SD.
4500 were let go in 2015, when the company was a little over 30k in strength. So this is not very unprecedented.
3K is not unprecedented. Please look at the 2017 number… which wasn’t even that long ago. Also, in the late 2000 Q was trying new businesses all the time just to shut the whole project down - which lead to massive layoffs… QTV, etc…
my guess would be greater than 1800 and less than 3000
Why is it unprecedented?
Keeping the big picture in perspective this is not a big number
Qualcomm grew their headcount quite a lot in last 3 years and now is the time to trim the fat
Sd would be hit big time . I heard it is 3.3k
considering qualcomm has 50k people. so total 10% reduction?
Most of PTE will go to TJ and Taiwan
3k in SD is about 25% haircut. This is massive and unprecedented.
