Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

The list seems finalized this week!

The annual review email today includes 87% of all the employees, which means 13% will be the unlucky number, is that an industry standard?
My manager already canceled all the meetings for one of my teammate, looks like he will be let go...

@2nls+1oBe7YDD you moved to a sweat shop. Try joining a real tech company

I think a good way to start the list is to include anyone who's taken more than 2 weeks of paternity leave. I moved to more serious tech company and I don't know of one person that's taken paternity leave.

@1dbd+1oBe7YDD "I am regret to inform you that..........".
That will take the tension off of any layoff!

I’m on paternity leave and was not on a list. I definitely worked more than 8 months this year. Does AR exclude Paternity leave folks ?

For laid off employee, there will be team message from Sr. Dir in morning requesting you to meet in his room. Sr. Dir will say "I am regret to inform you that..........".

This was the best sentence I heard in my Qualcomm life. Now I am no longer with QCOM and enjoying world "MY WAY". Its 4 months now and my mind is still have some toxic memory (from un ethical managers ) to clear. Hope you can live "YOUR WAY".

Qualcomm doesn't work that way. You will be treated as if you are still part of the company until d-day when your manager gives you a call telling you the bad news. This is how it works. Plain and simple. There are absolutely no hints or ways to tell you will be shown the door until it actually happens.

Op, I think you need to compare with the right list ! You are including interns, temps and all!

It's true that Q doesn't include those after cut-off date, but it is the case that we truly have so many new employees? It seems unlikely.

They don’t cut you that way. No meetings are cancelled. All of a sudden you get an extra meeting on your calendar last minute usually with no title.

Shocked! The AR mail list has less than around 42K members. Total company headcount is 58K, which corresponds to 28% reduction!!!

Not necessarily. The list is just AR eligible employees. Those who joined after cut off date will not be in the email list
