Thread regarding Sears layoffs

If the Coronavirus Get Worse in the next Two Weeks would affect store closures in Tri-State Area of NJ-NY-CT?

Will The Coronavirus Affect the closure going on at Current Sears & Kmart Store in NJ, NY, or CT. Or are they going to close as scheduled?

Right...nothing to be concerned about. Its only a virus that relies on a window of opportunity to spread... an infected person moving about and spreading it for days even before they know they have been infected.

@1cvo+14eQxjI4 More so if there is no hardware in the stores to begin with.

This Coronavirus is probably going to be the nail in the coffin for this company.

Hardlines business is not going to save the company....The majority of shoppers will go to Lowes, Home Depot, etc rather than going to Sears which has one foot on a banana peel and the other foot in the grave.

The ignorance, arrogance and lack of empathy in that statement are mind-blowing.
Social distancing is the best tool we have, in the abscence of comprehensive testing schedules, to slow the rate of infection of COVID19. You and your ilk are going to prolong this crisis, and k–l a lot of other people who are taking this seriously.
The United States is fxxxxx, fxxxxx because of it's citizens' abject stupidity.

How are they going to transfer everything if even the other stores can’t really sell softlines? So the inventory is just gonna sit there. I’m sure Eddie has a way out. He’s going to milk this Coronavirus by blaming it for sears/kmarts demise.

Selling hardware, appliances at a larger than planned markdown. Unable to sell softlines at all as per lockdown regulations. It appears softlines, shoes, jewelry will be shipped to one or two of the remaining stores in area. Fixtures will be dismantled and junked. Not definite yet but will know more soon.

They might just speed things up. The liquidator might be like "F...it. I'll just make everything 95% off, empty out the damn store, and move on with my life". Quarantine or not, if they put the whole store at 95% off, SOMEONE will buy the remaining c-ap. They can empty the place out in 3 Days that way. Heck, I'll drive there and buy some sh!t at 95% off, then just sell it on Ebay.

Most likely they will call off the liquation and ship the stuff to non-closing stores.

It all depends... if there aren’t going to be any customers coming into the store to buy all of the junk, then what’s the point of doing a liquidation? Lambert or any other store owner isn’t going to pay a liquidator for doing nothing. Either close the store and pack up everything and ship it to off or wait until this stupid social distancing is over and done with
