Please don't. Save your mental health. Horrible horrible place. Full of useless management. You can do better
I’m a Long termer 10+ years at Dell. Based in Ireland. I know my salary has drifted over the years and am well below market rate now.
Does anyone know what the salary bands are for Dell in Ireland now?
I’m i9 but would like to know band for i8, i9 if possible. I wouldn’t be surprised if new i8s earn more than me now
was that in 2003, boomer?
An i6 at 145k + Bonus? that can't be right. I was an i7 at 95k + Bonus! if that is accurate, then take it and run!

What's the first word in your title?
I would keep looking. There are some good people at Dell, company culture is awful. They are in the process of making changes they wanted to make during covid. So more cutbacks, re-orgs are coming. Exec level leadership is pretty bad. I still talk to several people on my old team and morale is not good. I would not take my old job back if they begged me to come back.
That's far too high for an I6 and is closer to current I8. That said, for whomever was saying that's VP level, you're also way off. I'm an M10 (and several levels down from VP) and am at $215K base/$268K total. So I would assume VPs are quite a bit higher than that.
Dell is the tumour not EMC.
I do not know if DELL is a tumor as I have never worked for it, but EMC certainly was a mismanaged company - that's why it failed.
Dell is the tumour not EMC.
Stop trying to rewrite history
I was pushed to all EMC. Their nonsense brag and outdated tools are not helping me move up on the technical side and they are prejudice on who they select to move up in the ladder.
Indeed! The Bias at EMC Corp was enormous and I suspect it still is. In fact the very low quality of the management at EMC Corp was the reason why this company unravelled so quickly - from its dot com highs to its purchase it took only 15 years. The EMC management is operated on cliques and bro circles but the worst of those are where the backbone was based on one specific ethnic group. Any international company which strives to grow should not be managed by biased managers giving the preferences to specific ethnic group..
This is a good offer, but it all depends on where you land inside at dell, my experience was really good when I was at Dell but my mental state is suffering after I was pushed to all EMC. Their nonsense brag and outdated tools are not helping me move up on the technical side and they are prejudice on who they select to move up in the ladder. I am applying to other jobs but the job market is competitive. If you have someone at Dell, you may want to ask them about the hiring team or the organization within Dell. Some VP are very aggressive and can make your career as their team cannot fall behind, some VP are very prejudice and your team simply may not care
That salary would be approaching VP range.
I was about to say the same - this is the kind of money a VP at DELL would get. Take it and do not look back. You will be better off than in Google.
I am the poster here. I am not a troll or from HR.
Yes, I interviewed as an I6. That's the offer they came back with after some negotiations back and forth.
The recruiter/manager said they may have to adjust my level but I interviewed as an I6 position with 2 years experience.
I am sorry if my offer offends you.
check the salary expectations.

I am sure while writing this post you were high on some kind of substance.
Absolute troll!
This is completly false, no way is it accurate in any shape, way or form. I am a 2nd line manager and can tell you the pay band for an I6 is not in this range. At $145K, they would be nearing the 200% mark employees in that pay scale. The thresh hold we pay caps at 120% to market value, anything over, bumps the pay grade. This offer would most definitly be a high I7 or low I8.
Dell is always adjusting the pay bands/grades and over the last 18months, they have taken advantage of the market to scale down and restructure pay grades. With a focus on operational expenses, no one is getting market value.
I’m calling HR troll on this one… why would anyone getting that offer post it to a “layoff” site? Does not make any logical sense…
145k is the base for an i7 on my team who joined a couple years ago, and the base for an i8 who joined several years ago. Internal movement offers are no where near that amount, so unless OP is a real unicorn that just ain't right.
Most of the seasoned employees are really out of touch with how much new hires are coming in at.
I don't buy it. Obvious troll post.
That salary would be approaching VP range.
No way...That is atleast i7 payband if not i8. Especially in Texas.
ya, doesn't pay to stay at Dell very long. Two years, then jump. Once they get to the point where you have to split salary pool and bonus money with everyone in your group, you end up getting small slices over time. You quickly fall behind.
No
Are you working from Bangalore?
I am an I6 and make half that.
Yes. Most of the seasoned employees are really out of touch with how much new hires are coming in at.
The more time at Dell the more you drifted away from reality and the marketplace.
You were cocooned while the world passed on by.
I'm I8 and make just a few thousand more so ya, it's good. It tells me new hires are coming in making alot more than the seasoned folks at the same level. I've seen some I8 salaries in Santa Clara between 180k and 213k. It's crazy.
It's the going rate nowadays for swe. very competitive. i know some upward of 200k with the right skills and negotiation
Accept if you like pain like a sado-masochist and thrive in an ultra toxic work environment.
What’s SWE?
Thats high for an I6.....i call bulls**t
You would stunt your growth as a SWE. Dell is not a software company and can’t develop software at all. It’s really bad.
Yeah its horrendous.
If your plan is to use it as a stepping stone to another job in a year or two, you should be fine.
one word .. Dont
