Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

I can also confirm that UnitedHealth Group (UHC & Optum) will be laying off employees ( Aka Reduction in Force or RIF) on Thursday, 02-06-20.

Not a coincidence this is right before RRP. Some employees are on quarterly or monthly compensation/bonus as well. UHG had a mass lay-off in October 2019. They are laying off employees that are high performers (make too much money in that grade level) and low performers. So if you’re mediocre you might be safe. They are eliminating entire departments. Many of the eliminated jobs are being off-shored to Ireland, India & the Philippines. The rest of the eliminated jobs will be split between the remaining employees so you will work longer hours. If you make it past this lay-off I would recommend to update your resume and get out ASAP. I cannot give your exact numbers but October 2019 was 10% of the workforce. Some leaders this round will not have to lay any employees off through attrition (not replacing employees who quit or moved over to another position within the company.) This round could be as high as 15% of the workforce. UHG likes to lay-off aka RIF in waves so the numbers are not so high. The layoffs never make the news because you receive a lump sum severance package and must sign a confidentiality agreement. Good luck to all!

I’m in C&S CRT and we have a meeting on 2/6 with department mgr? Also, been told other teams have meetings this day too or before according to our great supervisor whom his own self sounded nervous. I’m thinking many will post on here next week. Good luck everyone there’s better companies out there who CARE FOR THEIR EMPLOYEES! WE will survive these dirtbags WONT!

@1coz+13imZn0V... the 31 flavors post is a movie quote, from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I appreciated it, it gave me a good laugh amidst the doom and gloom.

I don’t really understand what people get out of mocking people on this site.

If this isn’t helpful for you then just ignore it or move along.

If you’re stressing and I say this with kindness, the decisions have already been made and there’s nothing you can do today to change the outcome.

Try to enjoy your weekend and take a deep breath going into next week.

My leader has informed me a big shakeup is coming next week but didn’t provide additional details.....

It's true. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Wichmann writing up the lay off list at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. Thank you, Simone.

Don't buy what the OP is selling. I was downgraded during the first major round of layoffs in 2017 and was moved out of BPQM/QuEST and put in Operations. Obviously now I'm overpaid in the lower grade, and have survived 3 years (so far) in operations. What I've been able to piece together so far in terms of layoff eligibility is Area first, department second, leadership headcount (director level) third AND THEN they look at individuals. Peoples work, scores, buttkissing aren't even taken into account until thety are into the 4th aka direct manager level of FTE cutting.

It's the mannerisms of the same poster over and over again (echoing October, saying good luck etc.) the last two days. Not giving any specific information, just second hand. We all know layoffs are happening next week and no one has confirmed areas or departments. Nothing new to see here. Everyone has layoff fatigue, so this person repeatedly posting the same " LAYOFFS 2/6/20" is pretty tedious. Feel free to downvote my post, but it's the truth, read the posts from the last 2 days under active.

I think it is a number of areas under both UHG and Optum. E&I, C&S for sure. We will know what groups exactly next week as people usually post the dept and who the department head is and how many from the area.

What departments? Everyone keeps saying 2/6 but nothing really specific about exactly who is getting hit? E&I? Community & State? Who?
