Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

"Project Managers don't get overtime"

Anyone else hear this line? It seems to me (at least in the UK) that PMs get routinely shafted with being expected to do out of hours work and other stuff beyond their contracted hours but don't actually get compensated for it because "lol PMs dont get overtime" (more like they can't fund it)

And being expected to figure out the financials because you've wasted your first month trying to beg and barter with Project Factory for a resource while being told there's no funding

If your a salaried employee you don't get overtime pay, that has been how it is for 48+ years in IT. Stop your bi-----g already! If you work more than 40 hours it's your own dam fault and not the compaines!

I used to work more than 40 hours as I was loyal to my managers, but since DXC hasn't given me an increase in years , I don't anymore. I am lucky if I do 20 hours of work during a week now. 15 years at DXC and 2 increases, one was less than 2% and the other was less than 4%. EVERY Other company I worked at I got at least 6% and sometimes 10% or more during a year

I typically try to finish early on a Friday etc if I've worked overtime. 'Try' being the operative word!

DXC doesn't pay overtime to most people in the UK. Your contract of employment basically states that you do additional hours "as required" (unpaid if you're salaried rather than paid hourly). Considering the number of people they're laying off, that's going to be even more additional hours for lots of people.

Even better, they've removed bonuses - so now you won't get recognition for your extra input in the form of a performance related bonus. Get a '1' or a '4' at appraisal time? Makes no difference to you reward.

I've left, but if I was ever asked to work extra hours by DXC the answer would be "No, not until you re-instate and pay the bonus that was part of my contract when I joined".

No one gets paid overtime and given the chronic under resourcing, which is only going to get worse as every one either leaves or gets WFRed , we all work longer hours than we should but we only have ourselves to blame. Just work your contracted hours and not a minute more, do NOT go the extra mile and if any manager is daft enough to call you on it, ask them why you should.

You get paid for 40 hours , do 40 hours and no more

Don't be daft, don't do any extra.

Within a month things will come crashing down, as everyone who was doing extra for free will stop.

Then they can recruit hundreds resources more defeating their plan of faking a bad quarter to prevent a raise.

They can lie but their lies are going to cost them dearly, was a bad move Mike your going to regret it.

Not just PMs.

I used to regularly do 100+ hours per week but not get paid over my 37. (though I'd have to book the 100+ so the clients were charged and "someone else" could benefit)

No raise + no overtime + no bonus = no more...
