Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Horoscope mismatch

I am a disgruntled employee and left cisco more than a decade back. Since then, recruiters keep reaching out to me through linkedIn and during the negotiatins Cisco is never ready hire me in the way I want. Most recently, Cisco approached me for sr technical leader position with UCF team. I asked $280k (the range for the position is $180k to $282k base) as my current base pay is $250k. Cisco is not ready. Then I asked principal engineer title and they disagreed. There is horoscope mismatch between me and Cisco.

In btw, can someone share what would be typical compensation for Sr technical leader (20 years of experience) wrt base, bonus % and stock grant.

What does any of this have to do with the horoscope?

Cisco may be sharing a wide pay range for that role because of new rules saying employers have to share that info, but the reality is that Cisco paygrades have pay bands that are closer to $20-30K wide, not $102K.

So, assuming $282K is the upper end of the highest paygrade allowed in that role, the pay band would be $255K-$282K. The median pay would be around $270K. Getting hired above the median makes you expensive & hard for a Dir to justify, so you immediately have a target on your back to be LR’d. Plus you have zero room for pay raises w/o a promotion & there’s no way you’re getting a promotion in less than 3 yrs as a new hire, even if you’re a retread. Which you’d know if you really worked at Cisco a decade ago.

So why would you put yourself in that situation?

The numbers aren’t adding up & the math isn’t matching.

@1cgf+1vJeD6rp,
You used rudimentary and basic in the sentence, one of which is redundant. So, I suggest you the same for English learning.

You could start by obtaining even the most rudimentary grasp of basic English grammar and sentence composition...

A Cisco title of Principal Engineer and $10 will get you coffee in a trendy paper cup. Go to a real company where you have to actually do something useful.

Liar, you never worked for Cisco before

Why ask this kind of question here? No one will give you answer. Compensation is location based.
