Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

"The hybrid policy is not going to change"

Hearing this from upper management in every single meeting/town hall. It's clear that they are digging their heels in in response to Tell Dell and external media reporting half of Dell staying remote. It's going to get worse and confirms their plans to reduce headcount by making it impossible to stay remote.

Salesforce aren't going back on remote work

And still she was remote when saying it...

With Salesforce's announcement to backtrack on remote work, others will fall in line. Dell isn't likely to tolerate 50% of its workforce remaining remote as momentum builds.

@1cbj+1txdfvcv we know historically this place is all about the money

It isn't about "culture" - it's about money. This article might shed some light on the drive behind RTO - https://communityimpact.com/austin/round-rock/government/2024/04/26/dell-signs-century-long-agreement-with-the-city-of-round-rock/

They’ll still make it possible to be remote because they have weak leadership who doesn’t want to put their foot down to say “no more remote work”. So people will continue to stay remote or do a quick badge in and out for hybrid. It’s stupid. Listen, it’s really simple. If you want to bring the “in the office” culture back then mandate it, give people permanent cubes and everyone moves on.

They won’t do that though. If you have t realized it, you should now. They’re a half-a$$ed, hypocritical company with a good story.

That’s it. So remote will continue to be remote (notice most of the leadership is remote) and hybrid is hybrid. Very little will change. They aren’t going to make the push and it’s a giant farce.

The company has no direction anyway. They’re floundering and eventually this story of the AI factory is going to fall apart when people just see it’s another term for data center.

"I've been on a few townhalls and their have been no talks about this. Please stop. "

Wasn't aware of this - all policy changes need to be announced at town halls months before they go into effect? On the "please stop" statement - it's a rumor site, perhaps you should stick to the Dell Sharepoints.

@vnj+1txdfvcv I spent 25 years at Dell. Lots of memories, friends. I’m amazed at what I am hearing from them, which is what brought me here. I’m closer to retiring than I am to ever going back to Dell.

So many childish responses on here. The id--ts that just keep saying "dell is not going to hire you back" have no idea. Complaining about the loss of hybrid, come on man, it is in black and white what Dell is trying to do here, if you want to work for Dell, go into the office.

Y'all make me really happy that I am no longer at Dell. I don't remember so much whining in my 25 years.

Really? Don't think that's true. You lose remote if you apply for a new position but if you get moved by dell then you keep remote

Anytime there is a reorg and you get moved
To another team, you cannot stay remote.
