Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Qualcomm is a disappointment

For those who have been here for many years, the company has probably become a big disappointment. Could you have even guessed a few years ago that this would become such a toxic place with a disturbed value system? I definitely couldn't have.

15 years of working at this place down the drain. Current execs running it into the ground. What should we expect from a hardware, modem company in this day and age. Good luck and remember 80-85% of bonus/rsu pool goes to execs so get back to work and have fun watching your co-workers walked out.

Good luck finding a team at Q that doesn't have a broken manager. I guess with 40,000 employees, there MUST be at least ONE good manager. I just haven't haven't seen it. It's like the search for intelligent extra terrestrial life. In THEORY, it should exist.

I still really enjoy it! I could see being disappointed in any place you’ve been for 20 years, but Q seems like a great place to work with a lot of amazing people for 5-10 years.

Compared to my friends at Google, Meta, etc., I’m much happier. But as with any place, it is depending on the teams you are on.

@1bne+1mjR5LpP , I don't think most people here are complaining about their salaries, if that's what you mean by "taking good care". Most people are complaining about how they are treated as human beings by managers acting without integrity, abusing their power, colluding, blacklisting, backstabbing, avoiding responsibility, etc, all the bu11sh!t behavior you can repeatedly read about on these forums. The emotional toll is just as important if not more so, than the compensation. Their phony performance review system, their phony titles, etc. People don't quit their jobs, they quit their managers.

Every organization has good part and bad part. Q has many positive aspects. But here the negative aspects are highlighted more. Seems people reflect their reviews frustration here where negative aspects are more than positive.

Q is not that bad what you guys are writing here. I moved out of Q after 11 years of service...but when I am experiencing out side world...I think Q is certainly one of the companies that take good care of its employees.

Remember when Q used to be among the very top companies to work for? I tell ya, I blame JT, he let politics and backstabbing foster in engineering. He promoted some pretty bad dudes that were not team players (only cared about themselves) and caused bad blood among various teams. JT was also the driving force behind program management and teams outside the base core team to scrutinize the results of base core teams. The guy is NOT a leader.....

Isn't it the same story everywhere? First the innovation. Then the bean counters and empire builders.

If you worked at Q only post iPhone then you will never understand how great the company use to be. You have no idea what it means to work at a startup that grows into something special … all you know is politics and bureaucracy

Yea. Its sad. I used to be proud of Q, and the fact that it spawned off of UCSD, a school I went to. Now that I've been inside (and out), to me it's just a tragedy. That first generation deserved their success. But over time the money just attracted the worst kind of people. RIP the Q that I imagined it was.

Disappointed is an understatement! I worked for Q for 15 years and was a very high level when I left. Engineering went from a lean efficient organization to a political nightmare. It all started going downhill when Sanjay left.
