Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Missing Post ?

There was a topic on the hypocrisy of new executive suites vs hot desks and neighborhoods. This post was up for a few days but has seemed to disappear.

Has anyone ever seen a whole topic disappear from this board especially after being posted and active for days?

It’s making me question Just who is running the show here and why would they remove a whole topic and the responding posts?

@1bdi It’s because the posts about it end up becoming a free-for-all for the EM homophobes.

Surprise! Most decent people don’t come here to read about your issues with LGBTQ people, and most functioning adults moved on from this issue a long time ago.

Any past dealing with PRIDE gets removed. Is that because it’s offensive or it’s considered religion?

not a company owned forum board, but it is 'lightly' moderated. here is a short-list of site rules (based on my experience and reading the content rules in the footer):
*no names
*no foul language
*no personal insults
*no impersonating
*no threats
*no politics
*no religion
*no trolling
*no spamming
as far as i could see, the rules are the same for all forum boards here.
regarding names, i think mods tolerate mentioning c-suits as they are company officials/public figures and nuke name-mentions of every other person lower down the food chain. i also think they let slide occasional curse or two, but delete posts containing personal insults and/or a lot of f-words.
hope this helps.

Probably broke the site rules in some way that wasn't obvious at first, maybe.

@1ndk The OP (possibly you) is barking up the conspiracy tree again.

Every time someone has a one of their posts or threads taken down, they claim they were the progenitor of some profound discussion that was too revealing, and some company big-wigs called the site and told them to yank the post.

This says more about the overblown sense of importance that people who think in such terms have about their commentary than it does about almost anything else.

I actually provided a comment to a post a couple weeks ago that was deleted. All I said was that the OP was a dingbat. No foul language! Had a bunch of likes (one dislike, probably from the OP) and then snap, it was gone! 🫰

@sqgBayou d-mba$$! No one said anything about a right to delete post, just that xom has their hand in the ones being deleted.

@juz I suggest that you re-read your constitution (assuming you’re in the US).

The First Amendment does not prevent a privately-owned website or web domain from deleting whatever they want or banning users. Just ask your friend Elon, a self-identified “free speech absolutist” who just banned a bunch of journalists from Twitter for “criticizing” him.

TL;DR: Sh!t-posting online isn’t a constitutionally protected right.

@OP There’s been a lot of posts about that, typically featuring ridiculously overheated rhetoric referring to it as (no joke) dehumanizing and/or a human rights violation.

The level of entitlement among white-collar EM employees is so enormous that it outweighs all of the mass in the known universe. You people need to get over yourselves, like, today.

@juz+1kgpzm89 You are sadly mistaken and living in a dream world. Why don’t you do a little checking around internally before showing your ignorance?

Also, some people make the mistake of thinking 'latest posts' is everything here. Get into the main topic for your company and keep scrolling until you find the post you're looking for. https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1k5OI5RJ or https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1kaN7iSO perhaps?

Stop spouting that bull. If you follow the SITE's rules nothing is deleted. xom has no power here.

It happens all of the time. This is not a free speech site. Part of the law group at xom monitors and moderates this site, deleting posts they deem controversial. Just try posing one.
