Thread regarding CVS layoffs

People are being laid off based on wrong metrics

We are measured on metrics that don’t fully capture the work being done. You can be doing meaningful work and still look like you’re underperforming on paper. There’s a clear disconnect between effort and evaluation. I've seen people who were among our best get on the list of "underperformers" when nothing could be further from the truth. It’s honestly pretty frustrating.

In some situations, there may be resistance to new ideas despite an intention to embrace change, which can unintentionally limit the contributions of newer team members. Additionally, accountability for challenges may at times be directed toward ground-level or contractual roles, such as Scrum Masters, rather than being addressed collaboratively.

Literally no corporate employee who's been laid off from CVS I know was told up to logoff and send in their laptop same day. Usually that tactic is reserved for sales roles and big tech companies.

@1gf one has to actually lose a job and file a claim for unemployment benefits , saying checking in advance for the account and find already there is $9000+ again adds more falsehood to the story

@1gf if that is true, why not share that story last year when the emotion is high? But somehow got triggered to share that story after seeing a small thread for a post that was one week ago. count me as doubtful of the story. feeling it is from the same person who said one can find personal names of layoff in state unemployment database and warn notice which is 100% flat false.

That post @1bc+1knf8fw9b was spot on. My heart sank when I got that "2-Mix" rating last March. I knew my work was 100% accurate and every deadline was met, so seeing that '2' felt like a punch in the gut it was pure bias. Then the "weekly counseling" started, and I could just feel the walls closing in. It was a mind game.

I spent every day anxiously checking state WARN notices, my stomach in knots. A friend told me to set up my unemployment credentials just in case, and when I logged in, I froze. There was $9,504 sitting there. I actually called the office, confused and trembling, telling the agent, "I’m still employed!" They said they'd look into it, but the dread was already overwhelming.

Thirty-six hours later, that "Quick Call at 11:30 AM" appeared on my calendar. My breath caught. I watched myself get kicked off daily meeting invites and realized the end was here. That morning felt like a lifetime. When I finally logged into Teams, the LD gave me this hollow "How's the family?" small talk while I sat there, feeling like a ghost was listening on the line.

Then came the cold, rehearsed script: "position eliminated." I felt so discarded. I tried to ask about my future or my benefits, but I was just shut down and told to talk to HR. By 11:39 AM, it was over. I was told to just sign out, pack up my life, and mail back the hardware.

Just like that, I was gone.

@1bc+1knf8fw9b : do not try to spread falsehoods: "start checking your name in the State Unemployment database. Your name will show up there before the WARN". Personal name of layoff will never appear online in public database, WARN notice will never contain employee personal name. and there is no such a thing of "May Refresh Cycle".

If you received performance Rating of 2, then start checking your name in the State Unemployment database. Your name will show up there before the WARN. Anyone who got the Rating of "2" in the last review are gone by the end of May refresh cycle.

Shut up and do some real work!
Whatever you think is productive work may not be productive work for the org.
Do what your LD asks you to do, not what you think you want to do!
Underperformers like you will always be underperformers, better to layoff than to waste time in feedback cycles and improvement plans!
Bye bye!

Anyone who got Performance Rating 2 are in the "chopping block".

I'm guessing it's because metrics are probably created/decided by people who never worked a day in a store in their life. So they have no idea what goes on in a store. And probably then the same general idea for corporate folks, metrics by higher-ups who don't know/have no idea about the work that actually goes on by people underneath them.

People get laid off based on LDs wanting stupid lackey behavior. Also Nepotism. There are no metrics.
