Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Bunch of _________ over here...

I'm losing brain cells by the second reading some of the posts on this site jeez... "we smart! we have union! they protect us! sign card now! in-house good, scab bad!" Sub-contractors aren't scabs. You're not on strike, they're just sub-contractors and the harsh reality is that their job is probably more secure than yours. It's pretty clear that a large majority of employees don't even understand the stipulations in their contract. Casting stones at other employees for "believing management" meanwhile, believing whatever smoke the union rep blew up their as--s to get them to petition a vote, because that's not hypocritical or anything. The union doesn't care about you either, they just collect your money and show face every so often so they don't lose traction. But hey, you're safe with a contract right? I've got news for you, nobody is safe. Good luck with those "SCABS" lol...

Fiber techs are about a third of Oakland . Other techs have been trained maybe 4 more without tools . So they remain rf techs . Why should a third of us enjoy the pain of fiber we don't get paid more ? I think everyone should have the tools or the ones who do get compasated . Fiber run sucks, I would gladly run 5 drop a drops a day . It is safer then having to drop a pdo off a ladder while there is multiple bucket trucks for auction in the parking lot. I will take pictures of someone off a ladder dropping a pdo and raising it lacking 3 points of contact and send it to osha . Also rf techs are Soo happy they are not trained I also agree . It's unsafe and why ? We are not compasated .

7ruy+1bhiUmqK this is the d-mbest thing I have ever read lol. This place was doomed from the second the acquisition was finalized because Altice was going to do whatever they wanted regardless. Even the union shops who thought they could avoid it STILL were forced over to ATS. So you can f--k off with that "you helped destroy this company". Corporate greed destroyed this company, not the techs.

@1bbg+1bhiUmqK Where was you when 95 percent of the employees signed Over to Cr-p ts. Did you care about your techs then. You knew then these guys were no good but you pushed their rhetoric, so mission accomplished, you helped destroy this company, now your offering advice quit, since they let you go, No thanks we will ride it out all we can do right now, hopefully they will bankrupt this place and the municipality takes over since they still need internet, who ever still employed stay strong soldiers your great.

All Union shops are a joke Don’t like this post Not my problem. Nobody is safe you will see with in 1 year. Probably should Start to ASAP. You are far from safe I’m an ex manager. You as techs are not part of the plan I could care less now because I myself was cut loose with in the last month. Every thing you hear is lies. I lost 27 years of my life working here and I loved my techs. But gentlemen get one thing straight It’s Over Time to get out. Don’t take this advice you will be very dissatisfied. If you have a family I’m TELLING YOU TO GET OUT. All I’m doing is offering advice. The plan was simple in- house did fiber, contractors did coax. Now they pay contractors 150 for fiber install, far less then it costs them to have you do it. There are now 5 contractor companies 1 new as of this week in Hicksville. Check for yourself. Multiple ex employees and management there. Take care of yourself. And take this advice to heart. Good luck all. I. Will miss s all of you guys.

So let’s this straight your really good at your Job , Which you probably are. Explain how your safe when the best of the best |42) guys walked out of Bethpage last year . All Told to leave by there management team, Stated take the package and run. Just explain because I’m curious to how you’re safe. With now 5 contractor companies running around. With ex supervisors and management running them. I’m so sorry but you can’t be this stupid. No offense. But if you have a family It’s in your best interest to wake up. Every one knows this except a few dummies who think they are gods gift to cable. The guy who runs fiber at Altice stated Wednesday to an excellent ex employee That it was the best decision to leave. I just lost,

All your unions are a joke. Each shop has a different contract. Max like 30 people strong? Altice is a telecom giant...if they want you gone your little union brotherhood doesn’t stand a chance. Also most of these “scabs” are just ex employees...It’s a niche skill with very little demand. Stay there long enough and get sucked in, see who becomes more important...the job to you, or you to the job Can’t blame them.

@jwp+1bhiUmqK congratulations. Nobody cares. There were lots of really good employees who used to work here, myself included. The only difference is we took our skills elsewhere instead of wasting time on this cr-p chute. Trust me, they're not missing anyone who's left or that they got rid off. It's a gain for them, one less expense out of corporate pockets.

Certainly safer than you bud. Already saw my dues pay dividends. I'm not worried about job security because I am really good at my job. If they let me go, it's their loss. Sounds like you have up a long time ago
