so you were an i9 and they offered you an i7 role for yoru same position? Is that what you are saying? or you were an i9 (principal) and they offered you an i8(senior) position?
How many years were you with the company, just curious? and what department if you don't mind sharing? Doesn't have to be the group, just curious? Sales/IT/etc?
Senior is one level down not two from Principal
Dell offered me a boomerang position. Laid me off as a principal engineer, wanted to rehire me as a senior engineer two ranks down. Same job same duties. After I stopped laughing, I declined

Keep up your activity in the job search!!! Just like in sales and cold calls, it takes a lot of attempts to get your yes. You got this. 2025 is your year! I feel it for you!
Don't stew in the toxicity as best you can. Lean in to skill development and hobbies for your free time. Network network network! I was the one on here jealous and begging people to take me with them, this time last year but just quiet quit and put your energy into your job search instead!
And guess what?!?! One of the people who left me behind at dell did take me with him later! It just takes time but your network will deliver for you! Keep checking in with people who had wfr or left! Meet new people! 💪💪💪
Speaking for 90% of the company when I say we are all jealous AF.
I'm waiting for one anyway now... they keep telling me it's on the way. My plan is to take my holiday pay come back the second and wham bam peace out man! I can't wait! Best wishes to everyone searching! Rely on your network for recommendations! It's the only way I got my first interview!
