Situational Irony: older workers are the most intolerant employees in every industry.

Dramatic Irony: the very people most opposed to protections against discrimination in the workplace are being discriminated against in the workplace.

YEE = ageism when you get negative credit the more YEE you have. The more experience you have the worse your assignments are and the worse ranked you are. What a joke.

YEE means year end experience...it is Age minus 18 an it gives you credit for college, other jobs, military service etc. It does correlate with age...but it is not agism...it is about experience.

Yes, I started across the street at the campus daycare and then slowly worked my way up to LCS @1asw+1r2Txfrg

@xhq+1r2Txfrg You’ve been at EM since birth?

Almost everyone over 50 gets tanked in the ranking. Exxon learned it's lesson from the last lawsuit - they dropped a guy from the top quintile to the bottom and pipped him in one year. He sued. We settled for an undisclosed sum.

Now they make sure no old employee is well ranked - easier to fire them and call it "for performance".

But of course the lesson for middle to young staff is that they have this to look forward to as they get older.

@xhq+1r2Txfrg - the only ones suffering prejudice since birth are white guys. Everyone else gets a boost from DEI.

That’s one reason why XOM uses code words such as YEE to disguise ageism.

@xhq+1r2Txfrg That's fair, all discrimination is unacceptable. The article makes a valid point however about ageism still being considered acceptable by those in charge, blatantly supporting it.

Unfortunate. Now, imagine facing that suffocating prejudice since birth. Misogyny is also alive and well at EM.
