@1asu+15dhpKG1, Union is meant to save a worker, they are meant to be watchdog. also, all the pension/benefit were voted away by members, if you want to blame, that would be the people who voted it away. When mass layoff happens, union also cant tell the company to stop the layoff, all they can do is to make sure the layoff is per contract, and again, the contract is voted by the members.
You may argue that the contract isn't fair, but if you think an ordinary blue collar (or white collar) can single handly negotiate a better contract, that's day dreaming. Maybe there are those top workers who can do that and negotiate a good term for themselves, but those people probably make up 5% of the populations, and those people will likely move up to management within 3-4 years anyway.
Nothing is perfect, most of the time, 99% of the people just have to rely on the lesser of the few evils, especially if the evils are competing against each other.
One may also argue the s/he can save the union due if there isn't union, this is true for short term. I don't know if you were there when Boeing changes health insurance policy (smoking, cost, etc). Those without a union contract have to pay more in the immediate following year, that includes the management ranks. Those with the contract, stick with contract term until the end of the contract, then moved to the higher price policy. I am not IAM, so I don't know what the dues are for IAM, but for us, that premium cost save along is higher than the due.
@1deh+15dhpKG1 Either spell check your sh– or have someone who can respond with some intelligence do your responding
Boogaloo Boys!!!!!
@1deh+15dhpKG1 did the union save my pension? No
Did the union do anything to keep us safe when we went back to work with this virus?
Also no.
The union is a joke. And if you defend it, you are probably an officer lining your pockets with my dues.
All this union has done for me in my career is lose more benefits for me and make me pay more for the ones I have.
Before you say "it could have been worse", you can't prove a negative.
I'm glad your brainwashed, I can look at facts and think for myself.
Stop stirring the pot and blame your union, without union u wouldnt even find a job pay u this much just to bs around. Blame Boeing for that. To answer why some job got warns notice but not listed. Are u sure those notices were layoffs? Or reclassify, bump back to different job? Use your brain to think.
As always, the union is right on top of things, NOT. Nothing like 3 days after the first notification posting info that should have been posted weeks ago.
Amazing, oh, and it's wrong because some codes that got WARNs are missing.
IAM, always late, but never a dollar short (we have your dues)
How come some job code got laid off and isn’t even on the list?
TFW your job code isn't on the list
