Before the Reuters article, it was rumored that the PE interested wanted Fiber and SC, as they wanted the small cells to use many as access points for future autonomous driving and other wireless high bandwidth needs. Pretty sure that was TPG so I’d be surprised if they still weren’t wanting both
@1alo+1w4LclCd That’s bc crown planted this article hoping to get tpg to move or another buy to step up. This article was deliberate crown needs this sold by year end and also interesting that it was right when the stock was almost at another 52 week low.
Interesting that the Bloomberg article says TPG is looking to purchase the fiber unit but also says a deal for both the fiber and wireless units could be announced in weeks. Could this imply there is another unnamed party looking to purchase the wireless assets? I could see CC selling fiber and not the SC, but not SC only.
You should’ve read just a tad more to get your answer:
“ For example, the analysts at MoffettNathanson noted that just 19% of Lumen's "mass markets" wireline network footprint has been upgraded to fiber”
Also, Lumens financials have been awful for a while. They were trading at a $2-3B evaluation for a while before their recent AI related deals, on ~$22B in debt
Can someone break down this down?LUMEN is going for only 6-9 billion and has nationwide fiber coverage. Crown is going for 8 billion and has only pockets of markets covered by fiber.
https://www.lightreading.com/fttx/crown-castle-lumen-reportedly-closer-to-selling-their-fiber-networks Last paragraph says it is just fiber
"A deal for the fiber and wireless assets could be announced within weeks, said the people, who asked to not be identified because the talks are private."
So yes, if this is a real lead it does include Small Cell.
"OP" stands for "Original Poster," meaning the person who started a thread or posted the initial comment in a discussion.
Also only interested in fiber. Wonder what happens to small cells.
@foz+1w4LclCd the articles are valid but the reading comprehension of the original poster is not valid! No where in the article did it state crown has sold fiber or that it’s a done deal! It literally states the deal still might not happen and that they are in late stage talks. Not that hard to understand.
PD $7.2B for Lightower alone, not mention a few bill here and a few bill there for other fiber companies. Let’s not even mention the roughly $1b a year in capex from 2018 - 2022. How to erode shareholder value 101. Woof.
15 to 10 to 8
It literally says the deal could fall through or another buyer. Seems like crown dropped the article to get tpg to sign the papers. They don’t want thier stock dropping anymore. They need that 8 billion cash now.
So Valentine’s Day 2025? Like when we came back from Covid? New AirPods for everyone, that’s your severance. Thanks for the hard work. Bye.
2 Years of layoffs, 3 thousand or so trolls.
On VPDP’s call yesterday and on the Chris’s town hall, they said we will hear about the decision by the holidays (which is a week ago) and this article was posted today. It’s indirectly hinting that we are sold
The only thing different in this one vs the Reuters one from October is that it’s only focused on TPG, and it’s $8B instead of $10B. No one said the articles weren’t valid, however OPs literally says we’re sold, even though the article says it’s not final and other bidders could hop in
So the people that have smart Alec comments, are you insinuating that there’s no validity to these articles?
What’s OP mean
Just like our typical employee, lacking intelligence and reading comprehension skills!
Congrats on not being able to read OP
It literally says nothing is confirmed yet and it’s just talk
