We all learned how it felt to work for a company that lived by a very simple concept... "Scratch my back, and I will scratch yours!". It's so basic and simple. It's a powerful vision.
For the employer, they will attract the best of the best quality employees, AND they will work their as--s off for them!
For the employees, they will receive benefits, especially the ones not listed in the benefit plan. Respect, pride, purpose, and security!
It's a delicate balance that works great when our goal and intent are the same. But, the wheels can quickly come flying off if the intention and goals change. AND they have changed.
This last round of layoffs had a much different intent. This wasn't a surgical or precise process! No, this was the meat on the bone. There was no intent other than to rid as quickly as possible cost. It didn't matter that key people were part of the massacre, and the way it was done certainly was never a concern. This was a hastened decision driven out of disappointment with the current financial figures. The books needed to quickly appear more attractive. This is Wall Street, and when you are selling something, you make it look pretty. This is the cost of going public and trying to maximize the IPO.
