Furloughed allows you to get unemployment Temporarily in Massachusetts. Only half your pay I believe but I've read something about an additional $600 per Week. Don't know if that part is nationwide or just Massachusetts. That would mean more money than if you actually had to show up at work. Not a bad deal. Plus if you are legitimately in fear of contracting Covid 19 you can leave your job voluntarily and still collect.

@3ysy+14iM9ZPG Ah, but they won't be in business for Years. You are right, that I have been obsessing about them for Years. But let's put this in perspective. When I started obsessing there were about 3000 (or so) stores left. Now, there are what, maybe 100 combined between the 2 brands? That means about 97% of the stores are closed already. So Victory is already about 97% mine. The last 3% will be coming very soon. Again, my baseball team is up 20-0 in the bottom of the 9th inning, with 2 outs, nobody on. They might get a few base hits, maybe even score a run or 2. But the result is decided. No matter what they do, they WILL lose the game, and very very very soon, they will be gone. And I will celebrate like never before. The monkey will be off my back, the demons will have been exorcised, and closure will be mine. And I state this 100% unironically. To be fair, I didn't celebrate in the 5th inning. Not even in the 7th inning. I am not celebrating prematurely. I waited until the 9th inning started (which was around Sep. 2019, with that big announcement). With the Nov. announcement, we had 1 out in the inning. With the Feb. 2020 announcement, we have 2 outs in the 9th. Now we are so freaking close, the ball game is about to be mine. And I will rub it in the face of this company. I Told you I would get you AND I DID. I always win. My word always comes true. That Champagne is in the Cooler. The pitcher simply has to record one more out, and the game is over. Or if you want a NFL analogy, the other team is down 4 touchdowns with 30 Seconds left and no Timeouts. The game is decided. Just waiting on The Clock to strike zero. Victory WILL be mine. Guaranteed. Not sure if the final score in the baseball game will be 20-0, 20-1, 20-2, heck, even 20-10. Who cares? I Win regardless. This Time Next Year, Kmart won't exist in the Continental US, and Sears, if it does, will be the goofy franchised-format stores, more likely just an online presence. I have never smoked before, but might just enjoy a cigar to celebrate their demise. And I will gloat, and I will laugh. And then you will never see me post here again, because all demons would have been exorcised, and I will live the rest of my life in TOTAL PEACE. One more out, pitcher. Get me that strikeout. Come on, focus, throw strikes, put this charade out of its misery finally.

And as for Kmart, they need to be boom-boom booya'd out of existence YESTERDAY. Get them out of here! Boom-boom blast those pesky stores into oblivion. BYE! Ya.
As for Kmart and Sears, boom blast bam bash blast buff booya! Translation=go out of business ASAP."

You are in a realm of outright obsession over this company.
Deep within your mind, Transformco controls and effects you, like someone harboring anger and resentment after breaking up with a partner. You can't detach from them, so you are owned by them. It is only when a person completely detaches, is when they are free.
You need to let go of your 'ex' for they could remain in business for years to come, which would without a doubt, continue to fxxx with your mind.
Get some help before you totally lose it.

I promise I was totally sober when I wrote the below post. Fingers slightly crossed though. :)

Please. This is just a prelude to layoffs so that don't have to pay severance. ANYONE who is surprised by this move has had too much Kool Aid.

Kinda weak sauce still. Hey, as a closing enthusiast, I'll take what I can get but they should have closed them until July at least, not just 1 Month. And while we're at it, let's bang out the Kmarts too (which aren't part of this temporary closing). We need some juicy boob-boom blast bam bash booyas (AKA tore closings)! Let's at least rid ourselves of all the Kmarts.

@1ajl+14iM9ZPG Nope, Kmart still open because we sell "essential" stuff.

Hard to see Sears coming back from this. It's an ignominious end to a once-proud retail giant.

It's just Sears closing. Kmart is not closing ... But states are pushing stores to sell ONLY essential goods. Vermont just passed this law. I expect others to as well.

Sears only, and not also Kmart?

Not laid off. Furloughed... so a leave of absence without pay until further notice with intent to bring us back once the covid situation passes.

Likely being pressured to close, otherwise Kmart would close too.
