How is that different from the EU? They change the rules too. What was that case in the Dutch court ... Something about reducing production by 40%, or was that carbon footprint which effectively equals production? what about other extreme EU legislation?

Come to the US, it is crazy over there, everybody votes with an increased stock price at the mere rumor of it.

And never mind the animated orange cheeto guy or the mumbly potato guy

Thanks to all the yanks trying to big up themselves. The rules in USA change every five seconds by the executive orders - for a few years it might help oil companies, but then it might not. Why bother moving? And other countries can easily change to attract head offices in a race to the bottom.

“relocating a corporation” simply means filling out paperwork to relocate the corporate hq and moving a single digit number of jobs that deal with the EC. it’s a legal maneuver.

let me spell it out for you and others who think we’re taking about moving all employees to the US because you have zero clues on how this works

the benefits are taxes and easier regulations - M&A/environmental

and in case you weren’t paying attention a few years ago - Shell already did this once when it moved from the NL to UK for these exact reasons in 2021. so this is hardly unprecedented. wael has also been sending a lot of signals about the US

Stupid arrogant yanks actually believe Shell want to move to USA. Amazing. There is no benefit compared to uk where they are now and if they really want to move, there are literally hundreds of better places to go. Seriously get over your f**king egos

Why not migrate to India?

Because we don't want our institutional investors getting calls offering them free no obligation home security systems, or trying to convince them to let some co-----cker remote in to their computers to deposit money into their bank accounts, or asking for a credit card number to "confirm your identity," or ...
Fu-k I hate those people.

Why move to the USA where salaries in oil and gas are double anywhere else. There’s no way YL will do that.

They’ll move the head office to Dubai or India or somewhere like that.

Is this before or after The Guardian's reported merger with BP?

lol.

first they beat shell away to the uk and we lost the “royal dutch”

and we still are proceeding as the only major on earth to care about scope 3!

not good enough - now they’ll push us to the USA and then have the lowest likelihood of shell being greener possible

that’s what happens when activists don’t compromise or are reallly just being egomaniacs

my new fantasy is that shell buys the parts of BP that it cares about, then moves to the US, then the rest of BP goes bankrupt. effectively ending any independent oil companies from existing in europe due to regulations. oddly likely! have fun continuing to degrowth yourselves, europe. germany is a glimpse at your future
