Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I’m beginning to think that crippling teams is another attrition tactics

I can’t see any other explanation for emptying out teams while workload remains unchanged. Nobody will carry that weight, especially while facing a very real possibility that they will be laid off too. What’s left of my team is close to imploding, and some will decide to leave on their own in the end, because they just can’t cope anymore.

New tactic….overload and overwhelm the remaining team until they quit (no severance). Management will be rewarded since they saved money. Hire a bunch of new people to train. Rinse and Repeat.

“We're listening, please provide the Top 5 things Dell should do that would propel it into being an even more successful company. I really don't understand how all of you are not in the C suite here, you seem to be so much smarter than everyone else.”

  1. put people in charge with a proven track record of success. Look at ISG. Arthur Lewis? Sudhir?

Please.

  1. eliminate the real dead wood. What has OCTO ever produced? Why are we still funding it?
  1. actually do some innovation. Sticking NVDA and AMD GPUs in our servers is not innovation.
  1. cut out losses on Telco
  1. Cut our losses on Edge

You give them far too much credit. It's not a master plan. They simply don't know what they are doing nor care.
It's a fake it and hope it works out strategy.

You’re absolutely right. I’m not even sure they’re clear on whether they’re penny pinching or not. It’s such a sh-t show.

Can't tell you how many calls I've been on recently where no one knows what the status of a program is because so many people have been let go. People just keep dropping, but there's no leadership stepping in stating how they intend to keep things running. Gaps gaps gaps everywhere...

Yep. We got told we cannot book any vacation without prior approval yesterday, and that it may be rejected.

Yes. Just more cowardice from top execs. Squeeze squeeze without having to make hard strategic decisions to shut down products and divisions. Just squeeze til they leave and if the manager is in good they’ll get moved elsewhere
