Thread regarding Lenovo layoffs

Is Lenovo the most toxic place you've ever worked at?

Layoffs aside, taking into account managerial personality, work/life balance (or lack thereof), lack of moral conduct, ethics, and general integrity. Not to mention blatant favoritism, good 'ole boys club mentality, and general lack of opportunities.

I'm relatively young but I've worked at five corporations and Lenovo was the worst by far. Employees hoarded knowledge and were very secretive, making it very difficult to enter as a new hire. Everyone was in their own cliques speaking their native languages and it required escalating to managers to FORCE cooperation or get help on even the simplest requests/questions. In other offices people usually say "hello, good morning, good bye"... none of that at Lenovo. It felt like a prison cell.

I think I was told a month after being hired that layoffs were likely and I needed to do something to justify my employment (I bit my tongue here, I wanted to explain a "Director" is supposed to "Direct" and if there aren't enough duties why did they give me an offer).

The campus was nice though!

@1abtn+145puYWa: First off, it's not "the most litigious place in the world", but Lenovo has its share of lawyers for sure. You say this like it's a good thing; The truth is, Lenovo needs a copious number of legal experts in drafting documentation and creating public statements to cover their a–es including but definitely not limited to:

1) Questionable business practices, how much, where and how often money moves around the many global (but still mostly Asian) subsidaries this company owns, especially when taxes come due
2) Two-faced managers' lies to employees (a near daily occurrence)
3) Theft of intellectual property – especially in China
4) Insider trading (especially for all those fun-fulled M&As that Lenovo does instead of improving their current base employment, like real leadership SHOULD do – oh well)
5) Blatant appropriations of lines of credit (e.g. Putting a contractor's salary on a P-Card).
6) Knowingly shipping notebooks loaded with spyware

That's some of the reasons why it's so "litigious".
If you're referring to this poster being "toxic": @Mcld+145puYWa, (s)he's speaking the truth. If you don't like what people legally post on a public forum I invite you to ignore the post and move on because no one is stupid enough to buy into your bullsh!t rhetoric, unless of course you're just a fake "Chinese" troll looking for attention, in which case: mission accomplished.

It is incredible how tone deaf and aggressive the "project office" rep is being on the layoff call right now. I've never worked at a place with such outright disdain for its employees.

Wow,. Such negativity.. think the toxic one is you.. American dream my friend, it's the most litigious place in the world. If you have proof of corrupt, bring it on. Instead of your verbal slander which in itself is a legal problem

No work life balance. Unlimited vacation is a joke because you’re worked to the bone :(

Lenovo certainly ranks as one of the worst. Corrupt beyond measure, they crush your spirit. The employees are unhappy, the management is a joke. I was so relieved when I was RIF'd. It was like I could breathe fresh air again.

The sneakiest place I’ve ever worked for sure . I don’t know how they year in and year out on the Data center side they cannot get profitable at $6b in revenue. Also, how much the cheat sales reps out of commissions. I was there 4yrs and have been shorted over $80k in commissions for product I sold and shipped and then they restructure/lay-off ever year change your accounts and you do not get paid. They also have a 50% threshold before you get a $ of commissions. Horrible place to work. They have a team of legal people and finance running it so they assure you won’t get paid.

Sales management at the high levels are awful and beat their reports up so much they are afraid to speak up for what’s fair to protect their jobs. I could go on and on.
