Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

If I hear @ Awesome or @ Development Ops or Agile one more time, I'm going to puke.

If you have to keep saying it for the 1000th time you don't have it embraced. Let's just get stuff done and dispense with the wasted marketing effort. Based on posts on inside tgt 5 or 6 people are ripe for next round of layoff.

Being an Agile Pragmatist with 8 years experience at 3 companies including Target, I'd have to agree. While I wouldn't load them into a canon and shoot them to the moon, I do believe Target is doing itself a dis-service by going whole-hog on Agile practices without first bringing experienced professionals in to help-out. Contractors do not count, and getting a CSM certificate is not experience. There is a handful of truly passionate and experienced Agile advocates at Target, but unfortunately few to none of those are in a leadership position. As a result Target will go through many avoidable Agile failures before finally getting it right. Unlike some companies that would abandon Agile and scorn its existence, IMHO I believe Target has good enough talent to eventually make it work.

Now, none of this has anything to do with layoffs, so I'll stop now :)

Anonymous109238 - Agreed because none of them really know how it works. Sitting on the shitter reading a trade article does not entitle you to knowing how agile and devops really works.

Hey, don't be such a downer. There are lots of people counting on promotions from marketing the latest fad.

"@ Awesome or @ Development Ops or Agile" these are the fat cats that the execs are listening too and unfortunately they have no clue what those words really mean. I would challenge any one of those sweet basils to go work at a start up software company and see what it really means vs standing behind a red elephant just in case their beards dry up.

Posts on Inside TGT? What have I missed? Besides seeing every spreadsheet that every contractor and employee has posted to every SharePoint site for the past billion years I don't see anything but a plug for the United Way Cookie Cart, some LGBT news and a couple other things that I couldn't care less about... Explain yourself, 109141.
