Thread regarding Paramount Global layoffs

If sound decisions were being made in the C-suite, Bari Weiss would be top of the next layoff list

But we know that Nepo Davey didn't hire her to get viewers or prestige or advertisers; it was just to make "Uncle Donald" happy. It's pretty pathetic, though, when you can't even match the YTD rating in literally the lowest-rated slot on the entire primetime schedule. It's almost like nobody wanted to see Bari Weiss or the Bride of Chucky on TV!

Bari Weiss’ much-hyped CBS News town hall with Erika Kirk was a massive ratings flop
According to Nielsen, the Saturday night town hall saw a 41 percent decline in in the key 25-54 advertising demographic compared to the network’s standard programming in that time slot year to date.

@19b You consider the 60 Minutes fiasco “restoring credibility?” Wow, just… wow.

@19b Sure, and the host of this year's Kennedy Center Honors was the best one in history. "People are saying..."

@18m what PR disaster? CBS is returning some credibility as far as I’m concerned. CNN might be beyond repair. Get out of your echo chamber, you may be out of touch with real commoners and what they think.

Kind of wild that Paramount corporate is just acting all, "La la la la la, what about CBS now? Something with the news division? Haven't heard anything out it. Is that even part of Paramount? It IS?!?! Oh well, I'm sure they'll sort it out over there in NYC. La la la la la..."

Is it just me, or does it come off as really weak and feckless for the CEO and chairman of a major media company to maintain absolute radio silence during as big a PR disaster as the "60 Minutes" yank has been?

ESPECIALLY when they should theoretically be interested in comforting WBD stockholders who are looking at his hostile bid, which would put Bari Weiss at the top of CNN too?

It's almost like billion-heirs don't have actual business chops, or that sheltered nepo babies who got actual airplanes on their birthday don't understand how commoners think. Is it because of growing up with the belief that "Here's a bunch of money" is the answer to any problem life throws at you?

And another thing: SuperBeets was about the only sponsor they could coax into being associated with this monstrosity.

Big Advertisers Appear Wary of CBS News’ Bari Weiss Town Hall Format

During a Saturday-night town hall led by Bari Weiss, the recently named editor in chief of CBS News, most of Madison Avenue sought an off-ramp.

During the hour, commercial breaks were largely filled with spots from direct-response advertisers, including the dietary supplement SuperBeets; the home-repair service HomeServe.com; and CarFax, a supplier of auto ownership data. Viewers of the telecast on WCBS, CBS’ flagship station in New York, even saw a commercial for Chia Pet, the terra-cotta figure that sprouts plant life after a few weeks.
