There are more rumours on upcoming rounds of layoffs.
When do you think this will be coming - is it probable to even start a new round this year?

@a1 it is huge. The job adverts and 2nd office is very public there. However I was told that recent jobs are NOT as attractive as initial wave of TSI recruitment ones were. I won't let the calibre in my department is poor and they seem very wealthy & supposedly educated Indian. So gosh knows what's next to come !!
She was never going to stay long and see the job through just look at her CV. Change for change sake

To Frans' credit,
When she introduced 70% coder metrics, that removed around 1500 third-party "engineers" who committed zero code in the last 6 months and who were onboarded more than 6 months ago.
When I heard that it was mind-blowing that this kind of obvious fraud was happening, this alone paid off for her and her partner like 10x.
I've also heard (bit don't know how valid it is) that a couple hundred of these people raised the issues only a couple of weeks after access was removed, once their paycheck didn't come.

her and her partner were brought into the company to great fanfare, with this lofty idea that big data and digital was going to be the saviour. Every su---r in the company was lured into learning python and doing digital apprenticeships.
End result, a company chock full of sh---y power BI dashboards and power-apps databases that only last as long as the person who made it stays in the company.

@18f agree. Fran destroyed the data capability at bp then waltzed off to a new gig at ford while the remainers are left to pick up the pieces and get bossed around by her mediocre tech hires who would be H level at any other company.
I don’t have high hopes when it comes to layoffs in technology, especially in digital. The people who probably should be let go stay, while others who work hard and contribute meaningfully are impacted. For example, one big techie Fran hired—who clearly shows narcissistic tendencies—is still here. He’s better at masking it now, but in my opinion, he hasn’t shown that he truly deserves his spot.
SLLs are just a name... In any other company they'd be middle managers
@fc , don’t know why you’re being down voted. Technically Hs and Gs are FLLs, first level leaders and Fs and Es are SLLs, senior level leaders.

@dg this is a great point about less severance in the future. I heard at Chevron layoffs that just occurred they did 2 weeks of pay per year of service. BP will wanna match that I’m sure at some point.
@ge Reliability and Maintenance in bp solutions with announcements in mid August. No idea how many cuts but will backfill with TSI.
@ge and they defer most decisions down to G’s, the working managers that actually try. F layer is mostly ineffective at bp.
Calling Gs middle managers is laughable. In P&O at least they are just individual contributors. F is the first layer of middle management - and yes, there are entirely too many of them.

if there are more cuts to come they need to be directed at the middle manager grade F
Been involved in interviews for TSI for P&O projects.
Skills and experience of individuals in India just not up to the requirements of P&O projects.
It’s going to take years to build capability
One of the goals of the new performance rating system is to increase attrition rates. It will be interesting to see if the bottom 10% tend to quit on their own due to reduced ACB, or how low ratings affect management decisions in future headcount reductions.
Just remember the longer you hold out; the lower the severance will be when you take into account inflation (current severance based on December 2020 salary). I feel with current management there's also a plan with the new ACB system that they will be looking to move more people out and pay out less redundancy in the future based on 'performance' ratings.... so suggest you think carefully if you have the chance to leave now vs hanging in....
Whiting round 2 sometime in late 2026 after USW contract is resolved. TSI needs justification.
expect another digital round in 2026. More roles to go to TSI Pune
P&O Projects VPs said they will make another cut in 2026, they said it will be a multi-year exercise, especially with the ramping up in tsi. A lot of work is going to tsi, i dont know if the employee population really understand the magnitude of jobs that are shifted over.
