Trump Tariffs & Trade (TTT or T³) - March 4 2025

It seems the T³ will come into effect March 4, 2025. We don't expect that the tariffs on Canada's most important export Oil and Gas will last for long. The tariffs on the other sectors in Canada WILL remain. We have a strong Premier here in Alberta. Our future Prime Minister Pierre Poilievre will work hard for the interests of Alberta. The economy of Alberta is the most important one within Canada. From the tax base based on our income taxes Alberta tax payers contribute the most in transfer payments to Quebec and the rest of Canada. You look after Alberta and the rest of the economy will fall into place.

This is the wrong time to introduce any carbon levy. We here in Alberta know climate change is not real. Oil and gas do not have a negative effect on the environment we all know this. I expect minimal effects to the Alberta economy and things to recover within a week. The other industries in Canada will see a 25% tariff and a slight decrease to their economy. It should be noted we here in Alberta have a greater share of exports than the rest of the country. My question is to the rest of the country what are you doing to assist the Alberta economy? You have benefited from more equalization payments than Alberta has ever received. It is now time to help look after Alberta. We would like to see an Action place to get the economy of Alberta kickstart the engine of the rest of the country.

I’m at loss regarding the lack of diplomacy from the Quebec and Ontario premiers who combined have the greatest population in Canada.

We here in Alberta understand the need for diplomacy and the greater cause. We will likely not see any tariffs on oil and gas. The other premiers do not know how to act in a diplomatic manner. I’ve never seen all the other premiers act so arrogantly as now. If the rest of the country ends up in a recession they will be to blame. Alberta since the start has extended an olive branch to ensure things run smoothly.

It’s too soon to see how Pierre Polievere or Mark Carney will do so I am focusing on the provinces.

The rest of the country will likely end up in a deep recession with Alberta able to weather the storm. We will likely see future equalization payments from Alberta to the rest of Canada. We have always been able to manage our books here in Alberta something the other provinces can learn from. We have no sales tax and have actually reduced income tax over the last few years.

Sorry Alberta - fake news. You are not the driver of the economy. You are literally dwarfed by Ontario Manufacturing ... oil and gas has to get lumped in with minerals to even get 4th place. Just because your lame duck premier (who by the way is going to be in hot water as the most corrupt slag in politics in canada ... even gasp more corrupt than J.T.)

You are clearly a leftie. You have no idea what Alberta is going through. Alberta is the engine that drives the Canadian economy. Tax collected from our income taxes helps the rest of Canada through equalization payments. We have always been there and helped Canada including complaining provinces like Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada.

The oil and gas industry is the most import industry in Canada and needs to be protected. We are literally the fuel that drives the economy. Think about it when you fill up gas or heat your home or take a shower using natural gas.

Only a strong conservative government nationally can help us. Pierre has the experience and leadership to deal with Donald Trump.

@17v+1jnf2k1a2 You are clearly from Ontario and drinking something strange. Even your premier in Ontario who apparently is a conservative doesn’t get it either. Learn more about economics and how the economy works!!

Clearly you are an American and out of touch with true Albertans. “This is the wrong time to introduce any carbon levy.” We’ve had a carbon levy for a while, dum--ss.

So you think your oil industry is so much more important that it should not be affected by the tariffs but every other industry should be affected?. I am at a loss to understand why you think the US should be spared tariffs on our oil after what they are doing. Some of you albertans are a special lot indeed. If Trump wants to annex any part of canada, maybe it should be alberta.
