Can Boeing even compete these days for truly skilled, specialized talent? I left a year ago for a better-paying job. If Boeing isn’t willing to offer competitive compensation and position itself as an attractive employer, it’s only going to find itself in deeper trouble. A bean-counting business model and high turnover don’t exactly set the stage for building quality airplanes.

In this age of protest crowds for hire and the news media’s spin
on mostly peaceful arsonist,
we must take Everything with a healthy dose of skepticism.
BA work environment is hostile. It's like a cross between Logan's Run and Lord of the Flies. They get rid of their old people by sending them to "sanctuary" and leave the young to fend for themselves without mentors and adequate guidance.
Competitive salary or not, you could not pay me enough to go back.
While the numbers are looking better, I assure you nothing has changed. The same behaviors that brought them down have not changed. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, just by chance.
Those I still know that are there tell me they still have the uncanny ability to promote the exact wrong people.
The culture has not changed.
Until it does, I won't be wearing a Boeing badge.
@17r
To infer that all of BAs problems can be solved by negotiating a union contract is reductive bravado.
@17r
The company is rotting from within. If BA doesn't fix their engineering department, you aren't going to have your union factory job.
Sounds more like a Union Contract Problem than a Boeing Problem
You can fool some of the people some of the time Boeing.
Their salaries are too low to compete with other companies. Just go to levels.fyi and compare Boeing salaries with other companies in the Seattle area. A young aerospace engineer can get a lot more money by going to a new space startup over Boeing.
They also push out honest people who believe in speaking their mind to raise concerns. Max and 787 are the results.
They only hire people with no experience or very little so to pay them less
