OP, your analysis is completely on point. Pat is by far the worst CEO during my time at Intel. I think any reasonably intelligent person could have figured this out along the way like some of us did, but the way you captured it should make it so unreasonably intelligent people could also understand. Why is it then that the BOD allowed this to happen? My argument is that they are completely out of touch. They are focused on short term gains and trying to mimic other companies instead of making quality products. Rich executives that don’t understand what life is like for the average person applying the rich dad poor dad principals to a multibillion dollar semiconductor business. WTF?

HR and IT have a team whose job is to find and terminate those who fail to follow the rules about company resources. People are routinely terminated due to this team.

The damage was from many years of cultural and management rot. Intel was walking dead when Pat showed up. Prior to Pat there had been over a 100 Billion is stock buybacks vs investing in the business.
