Money for exec World Cup trips but not for engineering budget?

Where is the World Cup travel and boondoggle money coming from all of a sudden?

@OP they're using money that should have been going to our annual pay increases.... First year in 10 that they are only giving cost of living.... it's BS....

@151 Let's not forget all the money poured into the Lenovo Center and the Hurricanes partnership. That Lenovo suite is a great perk for a certain executive and his children. Got to also wonder how much it costs to ride on the float for celebration downtown this past Saturday.

Are you surprised? Lenovo is a Chinese company. People, especially ICs below band 10, are disposable.

"Important" people showing off how great they think they are? Now, that's culture! Their glory is more important than you feeding your family or actually planning a retirement.

Fresh off the LinkedIn press….

“After years of behind-the-scenes work, it was a genuinely special moment to see Lenovo technology support an event of this scale during the FIFA World Cup.

What stood out was not just the scale, but what it takes to make experiences like this work seamlessly.

Events spanning Canada, Mexico and the United States rely on an enormous amount of coordination, infrastructure and trust. That trust does not happen by accident.

In our world, security underpins everything. When it is done well, it is almost invisible.

It is also not something any one organisation can solve alone. Resilience today depends on how effectively we work together across partners, platforms and ecosystems.

I had a great conversation with executives from Cisco and Microsoft about this, including shifts in the threat landscape and the growing importance of responsible AI to stay ahead of them.

Delivering global experiences at this scale is only possible when security is designed in from the start and treated as a shared responsibility.

I can’t wait to see all the pathetic LinkedIn posts from the execs wasting money going to Workd Cup games and being totally useless.

The reduced rates of merit raises this year is helping to fund all of these sponsorships.
