No equity refresh this year for me. Base increased measley 2%. CIP 9%.
I'm furious right now. A damn pay cut for more work due to lost colleagues. I miss them so much...Trying to get out of this shithole mass applying

@1rs I used to work at Ansys APAC, and as far as I know, the APAC director at least had the authority to decide who would receive RSUs and how much each person’s bonus would be. Of course, approval from higher-ups was required, but once the director made a decision, that approval was always granted.
Incidentally, that same director was also the one who decided who would be laid off. Although the standard line used when implementing the layoffs was “it was decided by upper management,” I heard from other departments that it was actually the APAC director who made the decision, so I know this to be true.
I have a question: do managers actually have any influence over salary adjustments? They often say it’s a decision made by upper management and that they’re unable to make changes.
@16t Are you in EMEA area? No increase at all?
@1d In today’s market, loyalty is a luxury and preparation is a necessity. If you aren't actively updating your skills and warming up your network right now, you're leaving your career security entirely to chance.
@14q That is what I think. But I am prepared for it. I only work what I am getting paid for. Have a few option, just waiting till they let me go so I collect the package. Paid vacation and it’s summer 😁
Quiet quit until something better comes along. This is how Capitalism works, yes?
@15j
A good manager is worth their weight in gold. Unfortunately they are scarce because it's a hard job and requires a unique set of skills and temperament.
This is true of most corporate functions (e.g. IT support, customer support (FAE, AE, PE), developer, etc...)
This is bad news, but it is possible to find or develop such people if upper management makes it a goal and accepts the premise that a good manager isn't just created by fiat, and their primary skill isn't just being a cog in the machine. A good manager is an orchestra conductor, a psychologist, a mechanic, an engineer and scientist.
They do exist, I've worked under several, but are increasingly scarce as corporations become more focused on top-down authoritative control, short-term profits, survival at individual and group levels.
@16t It's 99% certain, and 1% is for that you jump the boat earlier than the next cut date.
@OP no base increase no rsu no bonus increase legacy Ansys.
Does that mean we on layoff list?
@11f It’s not just half of the managers and directors—most of them are unnecessary and useless, so I think it’s fine to fire them all. I can’t stand the fact that they’re firing their subordinates while they themselves live a carefree life on high salaries.
@104 Not getting an ISU at P6 is a concerning sign; it's even deadly if you received one in 2024.
Totally agree. The micromanagement has dialed back significantly. It seems team leaders finally looked in the mirror and realized they're the next targets for restructuring. Suddenly, they don't have the energy to nitpick our work while they're auditioning for their own jobs.
@11f Agreed. Specially the mid-level managers will be impacted soon. After all those waves of individual contributors layoffs, they are now too many mid-level managers.
@10q Predicting more layoffs in June or July. Last time in March, the management layer was treated like a protected species, but they’re the obvious choice for the next round of restructuring. We have so many managers and directors providing 'vibe-only' value that we could lose half of them tomorrow and the business wouldn't skip a beat.
@104 I’m in the same boat and wondering if it’s already been confirmed that the next round of layoffs will take place in June
@104
I had similar raise, with very less rsu 6000USD , stuffed with good words and praise, i was confused then, but makes sense now. Thanks
Legacy Ansys P6, Sr Architect in SNPS now. Salary increase 3%, no RSU given. RSU still remaining to be vested less than $30k. Boss praised performance and contribution 😂. Message that I’m shown the door in June or clear message we don’t value you. #IamDone with Ansys. Toxic culture.
@ys If you are legacy Ansys then you are entitled to accelerated vesting of all unvested RSUs if you are let go within 18 months of the merger completion. This was part of the merger agreement between Ansys and Synopsys. This is in the text that is in the public domain over at the SEC. If you did not get them, you should check it out.
@ys Same for me- but I had to get out- too toxic
An important note about RSUs: when you leave voluntarily or not, these promised RSUs go away, so counting them as compensation is a bit misleading unless you know you'll be there for the full length of the beating schedule.
I lost enough to buy a really nice car, or live for a year, money which has been presented to me as part of my compensation 2-3 years ago.
3.9% salary increase. RSU and bonus decrease. Total comp down 7%.
@va That is paid in December!
Could anyone clarify about CIP and how is it applied or when is it paid?
Thanks in advance.
@tj It seems SNPS hoped they could quietly cut everyone's pay by 15% or so and it would go unnoticed. Ironically, on the same day comp announcements were made, they decide to send out the "Great Place to Work" survey. Management has actively encouraged employees to participate and give glowing reviews. Real clever.
Leadership is either incompetent or just downright greedy. In either case, shareholders and employees alike need to be concerned about what is really happening here. Can these same people be trusted to make the merger work and realize the cost synergies that have been promised? With the debt load taken on, the margin for error is slim.
@fr How come 35%? Based on 2024 numbers? Can you please share?
@t6 About 15-20 for L2.
First time I received RSUs, what is the typical range? I don't know if I should be happy or not with what I've gotten.
Lower bonus, 1% base increase in EMEA, LOL
Principal Engineer from Legacy Synopsys. TC reduced by about 35%.
legacy Ansys here. Base salary up 2.5%. RSU and bonus reduced to half. TC reduced by ~10%. That su-ks
@OP what does CIP 9% mean, where is it applied, thanks
@cn I’m doing some integration work and I got a 2% increase net overall. Equity dropped to almost half.
I’m applying elsewhere too, but I’m going to drag sh-t out so it hurts. Here’s one for our laid off colleagues
@cnTypo. I meant to say RSU granted to a level 2 R&D is kinda unexpected during the Ansys time.
Senior Engineer (former R&D 2 at Ansys) from a core product line at Ansys HQ in PA. ~4-5% YoY base salary bump with a first-time RSU offering (which is expected to be granted to former Ansys level 2). Definitely not the top performers; it seems it totally depends on how much revenue your team brings in or how important your team is in the eyes of the upper management. Apparently, anyone who works on anything that greatly benefits SNPS' core business may expect a bump in this round. Think about moving to a better team or leaving the company for better pay if the compensation su-ks.
Absolutely zilch, brain dead move merging these companies.
Yeah, for us that got the canned the story is not as good as the ones that are left!
Hope you guys don't get impacted by more layoffs coming during the constant restructuring/reorg/changing directions to save a penny.
base increased 3%, still below inflation, still losing purchasing power as usual at Ansys.
bonus flat.
rsu cut to less than half.
but after all, we haven't been fired. yet.
Oh, and for sure they are asking us to complete the "Great Place to Work Survey"...
My manager has not talked to me yet. It seems after the merger, my pay seems very low compared to equivalent positions in Synopsys. The workload definitely increased.
But does it mean I have to live with this lower pay compared to my equivalent existing synopsys colleagues?
@OP I was suddenly laid off from Ansys. With a family to support, a mortgage to pay, and a life to live, this sudden dismissal has left me feeling completely lost. It’s been five months since I was let go, and since I’m not young anymore, I’m still in a state of constant anxiety, unsure if I’ll ever find another job. Even if I do find a job, my salary will likely be half of what it was at Ansys.
I certainly feel sorry for those who have to cover the workload of people who’ve left, but there are also people who’ve been laid off without receiving a severance package and are living day to day, slowly depleting their savings.
I’ll probably resent the company for the rest of my life.
Down 15% TC YoY. Salary up slightly, RSU down big!
