Record breaking year in 2024. Reorganization and layoffs underway in 2025. People in Agency Standards laid off January and now people fear the worst. General offices are seeing changes and system overhaul. NYL prides itself for being conservative and not like the others but here we are.

@164r Change management and new CVP's changing everything.
@15hs
I’m in technology. Who do you feel is pushing for cuts? The newer hires?
@15hs Company was indeed wonderful when I first started. The culture has evolved into a toxic one. I'm torn between forcing myself to stay and wait for a layoff or find another job and quit. I hear NYL doesn't like to pay out severance thus why forcing people to quit by making their lives a living he-l.
Specifically, technology leaders who are driving some of these decisions and their plan are grossly incompetent. It’s truly sad to see a once great company and culture be led into the ground. Lots of great talent who have been key in the company’s ability to boast about record years, are being shown the door.
@x0e Facts. Working here for a couple decades and feeling the push to quit. Younger staff is put on a pedestal. 40 and over have gotten mediocre mid year reviews when they are the ones carrying the place. The young staff newly employed are getting glowing reviews, raises and promotions. They don't know a fifth of what we know. Google all the age discrimination lawsuits New York life has been slapped with. It's telling.
It's happening...also trying to push to quit
Interesting, the message wasn’t as dire in the CVP level town hall. Seems like the Leadership team is trimming down the message as the levels go down and creating this false sense of security that everything is going well
In the EO town hall, it was pretty clear that there would be more “challenging” and “difficult” ..
More layoffs in 2025
Not very stealthy anymore, but at least now I know why they didn’t say anything about whether or not our jobs would be safe at the last townhall.
Spoiler alert: they weren’t
They've been making cuts cuts longer than that. Never seen it in the Sales Office level which is concerning.
NYL has been doing stealth layoffs since 2023. Don’t buy into the “record breaking” Bs
