Thread regarding Fannie Mae layoffs

I guess not enough people are quitting because of RTO

Expectations are becoming so unrealistically high that I'm sure they're setting us up to fail.

@1f2 Who said anything about democrats. The government has used Fannie Mae for political reasons for decades but have more control since now run by FHFA. The same incompetent people are still there. At least someone is trying to do something about it although I think not necessarily in the correct way, but they may only have four years. The way the company has been is nothing but a slush fund for the treasury with many employees making a government job out of it.

I realize people aren't happy but I'm also not hearing any other solutions other than people who work there who just want to keep their job and benefits, drink a lot of koolaid, and then hope nobody notices and they can retire in peace. Not completely blaming them, I've been milking my 401K and saving money knowing any corporate job or this thing was a train wreck waiting to happen. I never expected to be here this long and even conservorship was only supposed to be for 3 or 4 years originally. I guess I just never had some life long expectations this was a career job and some company that is better than everyone.

@1f2 Where you there more than 10 years ago when they hired everyone has contractors and and let them go constantly with basically no reason?

Either this company needs to be completely government or completely private...but as long as they are government everything will be more political.

A lot of the same managers and directors are there but many departments aren't acting paranoid, while others are a complete mess. This isn't all from above, this is managers and directors making ** up to make themselves look good and save their jobs that is it.

@15x I am no fan of Democrats but you are an outright partisan id--t. What's going on now is a million times worse than at any other point in time at this company.

@d0 You actually think a company cares about you and can't survive without you. Its a job, you take your pay and they pay you to do a certain job...that's it. There is no loyalty so I don't have it either. I don't work extra hours or do anything extra, unless your trying for some promotion to seem "dedicated". This company has almost always been political especially since going under conservorship. This administration isn't much different than prior. The worst years were under Obama, constant layoffs, most contractors and not employees and 5 days in the office with basically no excuse for anything, and very quick to fire people.
Even around 2017 when many got to work from home others were not, and the work from home was never supposed to be permanent. Under Biden (or whomever was actually president) we got DEI hires and lots of woke stuff. Get used to it, as long as its under FHFA which is government control it will always be political. The best thing going back to the office is to see how useless much of the upper management is...sitting on their phones and just shooting the bull with people all day.
Many big companies are doing the same thing with bring employees back even 5 days a week (not saying I didn't enjoy working from home), so this isn't anything new.
Fannie can go public and be less political but you also might be in the office 5 days a week if you aren't already. Someone told me 60% or more of the employees have only been around the last 5 or 6 years or under, but many have been here 10+ years and trust me 10+ years ago was way worse. Its a company and job I don't look at it as some great charity place where they are saving the world, most are trying to save their jobs especially those 55+ who do whatever they are told.

The company chose to RIF many people that lived near offices and kept remote workers. Such a double standard.

@b3 It's because RTO is not about preventing waste, fraud, and abuse...a company that lays off its ethics department and a long tenured, respected EVP for investigating or pushing back against the chairman's shady, incompetent sh-t doesn't care about corruption. Our board and exec levels are now stacked with Pulte lackeys, and everyone else is just trying to keep their jobs. RTO is abput politics and su-king presidential di-k; the company absolutely doesn't care about us. I'm shocked they're paying for remote employees to come in, but maybe that's cheaper than a package and they're hoping more of them will quit.

RTO su-ks!!! What su-ks more and doesn’t really make sense is that remote employees have their travel expenses covered to come into the office, while those of us who commute deal with the daily cost and logistics of being there. We handle the commute and everything that comes with being in the office, yet others are reimbursed just to show up occasionally. At a minimum, there should be some consistency in how these expenses are handled. If remote employees were asked to cover their own travel, it would likely reduce unnecessary trips (some may even quit) and make the policy feel more equitable. It’s hard to reconcile arrangements like this with all the talk about reducing waste, fraud, and abuse. Tired of the double standard
