I used to work in one of the call centers years ago. I was promoted out of that position just prior to Covid. But, I worked from home all the times except for meeting days. I was so much more productive at home vs the office. I didn't have people stopping by to bother me, I wasn't rushed at lunch, and even when I was ill, I'd still log in.

No one had an issue at all with me working from home. Especially since I would take 10% to 20% more calls that the others on my team. It's just a scam to make you quit so they can hire someone cheaper. Or fire you and fight you on unemployment.

@15j+1jtnty4h9 That's what I was thinking, it's not going to be this year but it'll coincide with the opening of New North.

I don't know when but I believe five days in office is coming eventually.

When NM built the tower they promised the city X number of hours worked in the building per year in exchange for a big property tax cut on the tower.

They have a similar arrangement with the city for the new North building.

The fastest way NM will have to meet that obligation is to bring employees back five days per week. If dragging us locals back doesn't do it they're going to start calling back or letting go of permanently remote workers and hiring ones willing to work in the city five days/week.

I don't know when it will happen, but it will happen.

This is probably just a troll but wouldn't surprise me. Thats why they are rolling out zscaler, it has much more sophisticated tracking capabilities, every mouse click, key stroke, typing speed, how often you use backspace to correct something mistyped, pauses, etc to rank productivity for each employee. They will use this info to justify more days back on the office

Even though studies show work from home is just as or more productive than in person, the reason why all these companies are colluding to bring back in person work is because of leverage.
They hate that remote work gives workers so much leverage. When a worker can work from anywhere, employers having to potentially compete with more employers, perhaps worldwide, on wages and benefits because you can quit your job and start another without upending and disrupting your entire life to move somewhere else.
By requiring in person work, workers are MUCH less likely to switch jobs and move to another part of the country/world. This lowers wages, perks, and benefits across the board
Don't ever get tricked by the nonsense about "better teamwork, collaboration, and fueling innovation.

There is plenty of office space, our friends from a certain over populated country would be more than happy to pair up 2 to a cube

Not going to go to 5 days a week. There is not enough office space if everyone came in 5 days a week.

Still playing favorites with the NYC campus. So much for this equity and inclusion nonsense. I thought everyone would be treated fair and equally when John left.

Any word on the 401k being restored? You know one of the things that actually matter to employees.

We received the same briefing yesterday. Just to add, NYC will remain at two in-office days for now. The rationale is that longer commute times have a greater impact on employees in that region, and currently, two days is considered the norm for top talent in the NYC market—though that could evolve. HR is also reviewing patterns of employees who leave the office in under six hours, often referred to as 'lunch and dash,' to provide leaders with more context when considering promotions and performance ratings.

@bh+1jtnty4h9 Construction will be done in 2027. Not October.

Come on is this real? I agree the three days is barely enforced. Is this company wide or more for the technology function?

Yes @b3+1jtnty4h9, the last time DG had return to campus reminders sent out it was for employees who had not come into the office for 12 or more weeks.

They could at least wait until all of the construction is done in October so people can actually use Mason.

First enforce the 3 days a week. It’s a joke.

How many bosses will actually require this? We all know that depending on the department / boss / leadership...a mandatory 5 days a week will only be enforced for some. There will be discrimination & discension in the ranks. Employees will not leave in droves due to the state of the economy and a looming recession.

I have always been annoyed at the no. of contractors here from India whether they are onshore or offshore. The are many reasons for this. However, I do find the blatant racist comments on this forum disgusting and unnecessary.

Hearing the same as it will build culture back into the company and lower headcount without severances. Timing is mid summer effective September 1st, our AD let us know this week, early for kids schedules and make arrangements.

It's great to hear that everyone will be in the office for 5 days per week. I'm sure indian couples in tech teams, especially the women, will add value to the company. I have to say, the loud noise of the mixer grinder on hybrid days was quite irritating. Are they cooking during work hours? Regardless, I completely agree with nm on this.
