Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Sumeet is pushing for a RTO mandate

In case you haven't heard, this 4'10" johnny-come-lately has been working tirelessly with HR get people back into the office. I have it on good authority that the RTO mandate will get enacted sometime in late August.

If you live anywhere near a TD office, it's your DUTY to your fellow employees to DEFY the incoming RTO order. DO NOT let Sumeet and HR bully you into compliance.

RESIST.

RTO will fix all the problems? Ha! OP was a disaster. A newly announced travel service, except there is a travel freeze. Burning money for winners circle to celebrate NO new logos, Possible (worst event title ever) with more employees than guests. NOTHING will save this place, certainly not RTO.

There is never anyone there. I go in a few times a month. Usually the same faces and groups, but it is a ghost town so much so that floors 3 and 4 are closed off. Note that floor 1 is just legal and hr and meeting rooms. The other building was also closed with only floor 1 being available to us due to the data center and shipping.

BTW the reason floors 3 and 4 are closed is due to how few folks are there and if something were to happen to someone, chances are it would be some time that anyone would know. RTO or not, the idea is an interesting rumor but hyper unrealistic to rollout

@14t - 100% agree with this. It is embarrassing. However, the RTO mandate should include all of Cxx. If Steve is not in the office, why should anyone else be expected to RTO? Part of being on the Leadership team is leading by example 🤡

While I am not a fan of RTO, something to consider. The last couple of times I have been to the SD office I saw maybe 6 people and not all at once! And this is where our EBC is. How does that look to a customer coming to visit?

“A lot of people moved to different states during COVID, so how could people go back to the office if they are virtual employees now?”

Not Teradata’s problem. Hopefully there will be job opportunities in their new locations.

I guess the new guy wants to make a splash to feel like he's accomplishing something...Brilliant! Good luck trying to get everybody into an office given so many are scattered out across the country...

Of course it’s the Indian manager that wants people in the office.

Received words today that they want the 1 day a week RTO thing to start immediately? CPO himself is a virtual employee. Wonder if they will announce this mandate or just let it work under the hood.

@pa not in the first quarter, no… although could be seasonal, could be due to OP issues. Q2 will show whether q1 sharp decline was a tale telling sign or a blip

@gq are there cash flow problems? I thought the company generates 300M of FCF. TDC isn't going bankrupt anytime soon. Folks at the company can share more info.

Uh with the cash flow problems you have you’ll be filing for bankruptcy protection any day now.

The days of “working from home” in your jammies and doing two zoom calls a day are over. Come on back to us. The office isn’t that bad.

His mandate is to prep this turkey for GCP oven. RTO is a mean to reduce headcount. No more no less.

Go ahead, defy or align. The end game has nothing to do with office.

Who cares how tall he is? How rude to knock his physical attributes because you are annoyed to have to come to the office to work?

Dell and Amazon are doing the same.

I never thought I would see the day when people expected to be paid a good salary and yet resent having to go to an office.

There are plenty of people who would love the opportunity to go to work in an office so I hope you all do resist and find a new job.

Just another way to find cause when laying people off. It must be a ghost town in Teradata HQ.
