Thread regarding PGT Inc. layoffs

They just laid off our entire shift

I came into work tonight and immediately noticed a few police officers on-site, along with some of the higher-ups. Having been on C-shift during the 2019 layoffs, I knew something was happening. Sure enough, they called a meeting and informed everyone on D-shift that our jobs were being eliminated, with no severance offered. To pull this just a week before Thanksgiving is bad enough, but to also not offer severance pay and deny us our bo-m bonus, which was supposed to be paid out soon, feels wrong.

PGT was far from perfect, but we had some good leadership in the past before most of them transferred or left. Shoutout to dr King, Garry, and Elijah for being among the few who were actual leaders and would go to bat for people, after they left the weekend shifts went downhill. Now that Miter Brand has taken over, it’s clear that the company is more focused on corporate interests, with leadership that’s either completely incompetent or they're another crony.

i was a witness to the sla-ghter of the employees by this company during the housing crash.... cops at the gate and employees were lined up and led to the conference rooms and fired on the spot and escorted out close to 400 people...unfortunately this company has a history of doing this so don't buy into the we care speech from this place unless u enjoy pizza

at least the people in new south got a 2 month notice the ones in main plant pgt did not receive notice we were promised by leadership that we would not lose our jobs right before 120+ people lost there jobs in the must unprofessional way possible. the meeting went as of right now all of D shift is terminated. we were promised our bo-m pay out but we were not given 2 month notice and our salary leadership keeps swearing they didnt know but rumors were that the 2 group leaders on D shift were going to B shift this rumor was leaked by the B shift plant manager 2 months before we were let go so pgt knew in advance that they were going to do a lay off and failed to give us proper notice. really feel that they should have went through new hires and retained the ones with experience. i worked with pgt for almost 8 years and was apart of the leadership meeting were Erik, Roy and Alex all promised us D shift was not going anywhere for the foresee able future. i guess the people on D shift are going to have to get a lawyer and see if we can sue for our 2 months of pay that we were suppose to get before we were let go.

Yeah, the production manager left just the weekend before, and the meeting was supposed to happen the following weekend but got pushed up to Sunday. They did offer the BO-M (end of year efficiency bonus), it will come later is all. Still messed up to do this to people at this time of the year.

Senior Managers have been told to compile a listing of salary folks across all PGT/Miter locations (FL, AZ &CA) they would be comfortable letting go before the Christmas Holiday. Believe what is being quoted is a 10-20% reduction in salary positions to meet next year's budget. Also looking to implement a return to office policy to further reduce headcount in the areas of IT, Accounting and Customer Service.

NewSouth is just the beginning. Its widely known that all PGT Aluminum production is scheduled to be moved to their Miami location near the end of Q1 2025.

So sorry to hear about this. If someone who faced this hard news would be willing to speak to the press about it, theres an outlet in Sarasota County who is looking to interview. Text 941-400-4754 if you'd be willing to talk.

They laid off the entire D-shift assembly team. Several years ago they laid off some great leaders that actually cared and drove production, shout out to Chris, we miss you! It's really a shame to pull something like this with the holidays around the corner.

They should of pulled from low seniority on all shifts and shuffled the people that know what they are doing, kept the brain drain down.

This is typical for this company. Has happened more than once and always the week before T Day. Once they get their budget numbers in after the third quarter they realize they went over budget and in order to salvage their bonus they layoff to bring their numbers back in line. And yes they have plans to dismantle the current business structure.

They laid off the entire D-shift Assembly & Warehouse team (about 150 people), sounds like they kept the handful of people in glass ops.

This doesn't sound right. Can you be more specific? Did they layoff one production line or the entire day shift? How many? Do you think this is short term to be hired back once they make changes?

Miter brands sell be laying off another business unit within the next month, and then will also be selling off new south windows.

They will only be keeping PGT, CGI and western windows as business units
