@OP the government (sec) has ruled that public companies must do what is best for their investors. They don’t have to do what is best for the company and definitely not what is best for the employees. The only thing a company is legally required to give employees is a safe place to work. They aren’t loyal to employees, but expect employees to be loyal to them as a Value. Do your best, but watch out for yourself and keep your resume updated.
