How long before this starts to hit home. I’ve got that “go bag” ready.

@138 you do realise people don't move half way round the world to work to just up and quit. The work culture/manager style is a major factor.
@142 not surprising!
I found the Julius Caesar quote genial!
A scholar of either of current or former employment in the company and expat of the kingdom.
Succinctly, it reconciles upon a multiple fronts in respect of all things topical in the region right now, and certainly, with a career with Aramco.
All stats on this matter show vast majority quit because of their immediate manager. Go figure.
People often have reasons other than their hatred for job and location to leave. I am sure you can imagine a few.
why would u leave and then plan to come back? Does not make any sense at all...going thru that process again with all the BS of the magic kingdom...no thanks
Yep...I concur with that. Many left over various incidents only to be denied reemployment.
Ones that got rehired left for other more valid reasons (non-fear based) and reapplied to a department that had a big need.
I remember a few " incidents " over the years whilst I worked there. American employees were always the first to resign even though nothing of major concern occurred and they were the first to reapply. Often these requests were automatically rejected.
My money is on this blowing up big time when the Yanks lend the headbangers some bunker busters. House of Saud is terrified of regime change spreading, the heretics are better than what happened to Iraq.
I kinda think this round of hostilities peters out after about a month or two.
When I first arrived, 2002, there were still expats around from the first gulf w-r. It was good times...big bumps and plentiful bennies.
not something you want to tell yourself if ur house is leveled...I promise - you will not see a thing...
' As a rule, men worry more about what they can't see than about what they can.'
- Julius Caesar
If that happens, that "go bag" won't really help. My house was within a km away when it happened, just a few coordinates off. I sent in my resignation immediately right after, thinking the money is no good if I can no longer spend it.
20% will soon become much larger if a missile hits close to home...people are looking for a reason to leave anyways and this will be a huge one...
Cost of “Defense” will increase markedly soon. Guess who will come knocking for more cash to fund the defense of the Kingdom. Where will that unplanned money come from other than the company’s largest cost center, salaries and benefits….
I see 20 percent across the board coming.
Actually this is just the casus belli aramco management have been waiting for to remove all expats that are non-praying.
Also if those nuke sites get hit, then you’ll be needing more than Allah to hope Dhahran is the enveloped in a cloud of radioactive dust.
push for a bump in pay? :) LOL good luck with that one...
Now is the time to push for a bump in pay! Maybe the yearly increases will be sweetened. Especially if the token numbers of new hire expats dry up a bit.
One would think KSA should not be affected. I hope the Iranians take back thier country from the Islamic tyrannical regime..
