Quality of Life at Macys

I love how they talk about flexible schedules and quality of life at Macys. Quality of life should not include having to work EVERY FREAKING WEEKEND. Unless you use all your vacation days or promise your first born to an associate to switch with you, which is rare, you WILL WORK EVERY WEEKEND. Captains in my store get a weekend a month off. Why can't the automatic system do the same for Selling associates. Its ridiculous. I don't expect to have every weekend off but one weekend off a month would be nice. Cmon MACYS we have no air conditioning so at least give us this!!!!

@12y wrong. We get 3 unavailable days but can only use 1 on the weekends if we want a full weekend off we need to use pto.

If you CHOOSE to work retail, you CHOOSE to work weekends. You can get a job anywhere. You CHOSE retail. But you also get unavailable days that you can use to take one weekend off a month. It is designed that way for you to have the ability to choose the weekend that you want versus an automated system choosing for you. Just use your tools.

Requiring selling associates to work every weekend is why Macy's has such a hard time hiring quality people with potential that might grow with the company. Our managers don't work nights and never, ever work a Sunday. Our managers take turns taking holidays off, but sales associates are scheduled for every holiday. Tell an applicant that they will be working nights, weekends and holidays and watch them run for the door.

I don't know HOW THEY DON'T REALIZE how the heat affects the cosmetics, fragrances and candies in the stores. It degrades products and melts the chocolates

They're on our roof every year fixing the compressors. Completely replacing the damn things would be cheaper. Macys: penny wise, pound foolish

The lack of AC is so relatable. No clue how they’re investing in stores like mine, and yet, the summertime is so sweltering in rhe store that the customers complain. Even sensitive associates have to leave early or nearly faint from the humidity and heat.
