They just implemented a plan for full time return to office 5 days a week for EVERY employee (including hybrid or remote)....or take the package and gone by Oct 31st...with more layoffs to come in November.

Does the 5 day in the office thing mean sick days are now back in play. Meaning...sick days where you dont pick up a machine and log in?
Because, if theres no remote anymore, shouldnt that mean we wouldnt have to work on sick days when were home?
@12c
So why would DE want to start on day one and break the spirit of people who work for his new company? Great move kid!
Morale hasnt been good since that policy was announced. Practically NO ONE wants this. And the only ones who dont care are the ones who actually live in Manhattan.
I honestly think its a clean hands way of weeding out people in the first wave, since they've been talking layoffs anyway. And companies have a number of heads in mind when they announce layoffs. If they're lucky, they will reach that number with voluntary seperations and wont have to involuntarily cut people.
My guess that sometimes in 1Q this 5 day a week thing becomes a soft 4 day...or even less....even if its not an official thing. Wait until the first snow/ice storm.
@11p forcing any time back in the office when we’ve been remote for 3+ years is all 100% about control. It’s completely a thing of the past.
Five days in the office and forcing remote workers to relocate is clearly about control. Its a relic of the past and ignores everything we've learned about productivity, and well being. Forced commutes and "presenteeism" do the opposite of "collaboration" and ki-l creativity and morale. That being said there is real value in 2-3 days in the office. But swooping in and mandating 5 days in the office feels like a swinging dk power play to make a statement.
So from day one, trust in management is shot, and Paramount has become a place where work-life balance need not apply.
@100
Yup, it applies to all personnel who are fully remote. They will be in "Phase 2" and getting some severance offer at a later date.
"Employees in other U.S. locations and those currently fully remote will return by Q3-2026"
Its crazy, we hired you as Hybrid or Remote...but oh well. Sell your house! Move your kids! Get your butt to the office! Maybe you'll run into and learn something from Taylor Sheridan or or Paulie D!
What is you were hired as fully remote? Does RTO apply to you? How will these situations be handled, on a case by case basis?
Ive done the in office thing for most of my career and yes, when youre in your 20s-early 30s being in the office with your team is beneficial for networking, socializing, gossiping etc. And for some specialities like creatives, they should probably be in every day. But some jobs here do NOT need to be in 5 days. And at my point in my career, who gives a hoot if the next Steve Jobs was in the office. Besides, who needs to hear him for 5 days...when you could get just as much in 2-3.
The work world has changed. A company forcing 5 days a week in the corporate world will feel like being in jail.
@ag this guy was in elementary school maybe a teenager when Jobs was in his prime - this Nepo Baby wasn't paying attention to anything
Most Nepo babies want cars and unheard of luxuries. This silver spoon gets daddy ellison to buy him a corporation cuz he thinks he's creative...we've come so far in this era of NEPO babies
@ak Exactly! It’s absolutely ridiculous. As is this whole initiative in the first place…
I thought we were past the time of “put as--s in chairs” for absolutely no reason.
Hes going to learn pretty quickly that trying to enforce full time RTO at a company with almost 20k employees is not the same as enforcing it on a company with less than 1000.
Its unenforceable after a month or two when it all settles in.
How can you cross reference door swipes with people on pto, or called out sick, or are injured, had a doc appt, etc. No manager will want to deal with that constant menial bs if you're getting your work done.
Its gonna be awesome opening up that space reservation app and desk hunting 5 days a week!
And better yet, having to have that painful conversation with the person who is sitting at the desk you reserved!!
I mean, how can you have "formative moments" like he did with Steve Jobs if you're on Zoom? Don't employees want to be a fly on the wall, listening to a nepo baby CEO talking about flying private airplanes and sour patch kids? Think of the valuable conversations you can hear when his father, Larry Ellison, stops by to tell him what to do with the company. So invaluable!
@aa How was he at skydance to work for?
Its shadow layoffs. They have a number in mind for the "bloodshed" in November. Minus those that opt out because they have no willingness to go RTO...then layoff the rest to get to that number in November.
And in this work culture, who the heck does RTO anymore outside of financial firms? Terrible terrible terrible. Go from zero or 1-2 days to 5 days. And in this time of high inflation its also a big pay cut (commuting cost x5, lunch x5, office clothing, etc).
Nepo Baby CEO strikes. Making Workers Miserable Again. Gotta love it
What the he-l are these comments supporting this cr-p?
This is complete B.S. It is just forced layoffs so they don’t have to do the actual work. It makes no sense for employees who live out of the city/state/country to relocate to an office when everything is already fine as is.
For those stuck working with you, it certainly will be.
Excellent! I've been waiting for a package to rid myself of this place
Sounds like the vacation is over.
