PIL process

Ok folks, can someone describe how the PIL process works? Once you select the PIL are you walked out the door that day or is there a job handover period?

@11r I took 3 months off with PIL and then was back within 6 months as a consultant. Just keep the lines of communication open with people that are there and stay on good terms.

@ck how long do you have to be away from the company to come back as a hat contractor? 30 or 60 days?

I walked out the day my PIL paperwork was finalized. Retired 2.5 months before my 55th birthday.

If you're at EMHC, on your last day after turning in everything, what you can do before you exit is to drive the EMHC loop at least 5 times at 60mph. You're welcome.

Once you elect PIL and sign the docs, the pay in lieue begins, so why would you still want to report for work another week. You have been shown the door and yet you still want to make the lives of the remaining easier? The company wants you out immediately too so you can't make any damaging moves.

Just went through the process. If you are over 40 you have 3 weeks to elect either pil or pip. After you elect pil and sign you have 1 week before you turn everything in. Your benefits start after that.

Is anyone stay over 5 days after making PIL decision? What do they expect from you? Besides turning in computer and badges

Best option, go away on vacation when you know it’s your annual review. Call in for the rank results. If you don’t like what you hear, quit and never go back. Mail your computer and badge in and never face the scoundrels again. Don’t give anyone the satisfaction of “walking you out” bullsh-t.

Hard to believe this system actually exists in broad daylight and to many of the most loyal employees who have been with the company for decades and moved their families all over the globe. If more people understood what was going on, especially the younger employees, I think there would be a revolt.

He-l, if I knew what happened when you reached a certain age and are put out to pasture, I don’t think that I would’ve ever worked at that soul su-king asylum in the first place.

Why the he-l would you want to come back to this dysfunctional he ll hole? Are you into torture and suffering? NsI pip Employees that come back are sick in the head. I can understand hipos and favs comming back because they never set had bad ranking. NsI is the ultimate insult to us. Many employees did not deserve the nsi and were chosen to fill a quota while those truly deserving nsi were protected. It must be a case of Stockholm syndrome for these employees.

@by yes, you can come back as a contractor after a PIL. I know a couple people who got dumped into NSI, but have come back as contractors to help address failed audits. They were the only ones who knew which way was up, but that still didn’t save them from getting trashed during the annual review.

Now they’re back making 2X as much. Well played, EM. Driving value one NSI at a time.

Pay i n lieu they will pay you 3 months and you leave immediately. No handover just out. They collect your baDGE, COMPUTER and keys. You are not allowed back for any reason. My old co workers that were piped cannot come back to emhc to visit or lunch with me. read the agreement carefully as you cannot seek employment with exxon and give up the rights to sue. You will be off the books by november. You will be a ghost and nebver mentioned again.

You can also take PIP first, try it out, and if don't like it, you can ask to switch to PIL. At least, you get to see what's your PIP list is, if it's doable or not. If you decide to PIL last minute, say 1 month before the PIP ends, your PIL benefits are diminished because of the elapsed time.

You have 2 weeks to decide. Either way if you have time to stretch it out do it.

“ I switched to the PiL and was paid by both for a while.”

The policy has been updated. If you get a new job you will lose the PIL benefits.

The latest policy is on EMCONNECT

Seek and you shall find.

@aa Why are you on this site 4 years later if you were PIP’d? If I left, I’d never look back.

Based on my experience, after I elected PIL, I was asked by my manager to turn in everything the next day. I signed some papers next day we met, turned back everything, and manager walked me out. Remaining folks scrambled without any transition done. Management expected that to happen.

There’s usually a handover period. The PiL is paid out like your paycheck over the designated period after you leave. I was PiP’d in 2021 and tried the improvement plan while I looked for a job. Once I found my new role, I switched to the PiL and was paid by both for a while.
