@11c if we’re thinking of the same epic failure, it was in N Dakota not Colorado. They leased most of several counties the walked away after drilling several wells that were only water.

What’s worse was when they drilled hundreds of shallow cheap gas wells in Alberta. They were barely economic and they didn’t secure right of ways in advance. The landowners demanded lots of money for flow lines etc. Bottom line they never connected or produced 100s of them

The list goes on

The poster forgot about the Eagle Ford attempt (and fail), and the previous Alaska attempt in 2011, also a fail..... and the Colorado endeavor that lasted about six weeks back ten years ago or so.

@jy Don’t forget Deadwood. JC drilled hundreds of money losing wells. Most partners knew better and didn’t participate. Just the start of bad decisions

There is always a distraction that comes up. Look at the history starting with Alpine High.

Suriname
Egypt investment
Uruguay

If Alaska doesn’t hit something big next winter I can see some of the guys at the top ki-ling exploration. And the deadline to drill in Uruguay is approaching, and still no partner.
