ECMC has made good progress in cutting useless positions but need to continue on. If any person or position has been eliminated under CCi or ECMC PLEASE keep it that way- do not bring them back at any level. RVPA's were arguably the worst of the bunch (below the Divisionals who should be next in line for the door) and will always have the same high pressure, get the sale/signature/student by any means mindset. Oh, they can't read, speak English or score more than single digits on the SLE??? So what?? We can't DISCRIMINATE, sign them up, change their lives! Gag. Lord save their souls for the damage they did to the students and the industry as a whole.
Since ECMC is lauding non-profit, cut Admissions period then bring in fewer new personnel gradually that are not of the high pressure mindset. For each current Admissions Rep look at their track record of A. Enrolled students B. Dropped students C. Graduated students. Cut the worst offenders immediately- it is not hard to see the real car salesmen for what they are.
Next, let's look at Financial Aid- OMG, all remaining FA Directors (and staff should go). Talk about getting money for nothing. They make mistakes on top of mistakes the few times they actually do something and it further screws up the students. They trash SOCLE but need to look in the mirror.
Scuttlebutt has it that you all are considering bringing back the Student Services positions- this was a joke at the start and surely for the last few remaining CCi campuses. By all accounts friends of friends just kept getting repurposed into different positions in the CCi family- like incestuous relationships. Prime example here. They were in place to supposedly assist with the multitude of issues that the caliber of "students" that Admissions dragged in the door. Ridiculous waste of money. You already have the instructors, PD's, Deans and Presidents (if they are hands on as they should be) that work with students and can provide the CARE materials. No need for another high dollar layer of drama to further muddy the waters and create more problems.
Career Services should be the last best effort in polishing the students- this would indicate having the best persons performing in these roles. Not happening ECMC. Look into it. Employees are kept in their roles because they have been there, the DOCS feels sorry for them, they have been with CCi forever- so what? Put quality people in these positions and reap the benefits much better than CCi has.
Academics needs to be looked at as well- focus on quality of education not quantity of students enrolled nor withdrawn. If students are passing classes still not reading, writing nor comprehending then there is a huge problem. Again, this starts with Admissions enrolling just a number in most cases, however the level of some instruction at campuses borders on criminal as well. It is sad to see "graduates" walk across a stage that can't comprehend venue, podium and the like. Happens all the time.
Curriculum- total overhaul is needed along with the CSC idiots that created the existing guidelines. Talk to the campuses and get their input rather than the ivory tower idiots so far removed from the current real world education arena who have no clue.
Adding ingredients: put back essential positions such as a single point of contact for HR related items at each campus.
Follow these tips and you just may pull this rabbit out of the hat ECMC.
