If ECMC and CCI have not done final closing on this deal, how can they give out offer letters or termination letters with their name on them. CCI employees do not work for them yet. I think CCI is just using the buyout to bypass any HR rules cherry picking their crew. Just suspicious.

OP: 549 is right. Also, ECMC does get to cherry pick their new employees. They have already said that they plan to decrease expenditures, which means not everyone gets carried over.
The letters that we received from ECMC last week were not offers of employment. They were letters of intent to give us an offer of employment. The letter stated that the offer of employment was going to be contingent on the purchase completing successfully. Most everyone who was not going to receive the ECMC "letters of intent" on Wednesday were layed off on Tuesday by CCi and all of them are eligible for unemployment.
