Oh I don't know, because you signed off on a contract for the term at the beginning of the term. Do you recall that? Perhaps not getting a LOI tells a bit about you as an instructor. Just saying...

Why would I submit grades if I did not get a letter of intent? Does ECMC think I am stupid, or is it CCi that has made the mistake. Does CCi have enough subs to go in and grade the assignments for weeks 10-12 and assign grades? Does ECMC have the staff to do it? I don't think so. Suggest that the folks who have an obligation to the students get off their asses and either start grading or start begging forgiveness from the instructors you have slighted.

If you did not receive a LOI then you likely will not be kept on by ECMC. Sorry.

The LOI describes your salary/pay will remain the same, for now. I'm sure that will likely change at some point, up or down, not sure exactly.

The only public teaching I would do right now is online. I just love the flexibility and autonomy it provides.

No LOI for me (yet). Do they list salaries or are they vague? Will I get mine by snail mail or email?

546: you're correct about the working conditions, but remember to also tell folks about the pay. I went from $70K to $38K, which is (believe it or not) considered good at the public I work at. that extra moolah would buy a lot of perks, too.

460: Amen to that! I moved from public to EDMC to CCi and after really thinking interpreting the differences I knew i needed to go back to public. The budgets are tight, but it's still a union, 40 hour a week job with better benefits than CCi and a much, much better work environment. There are a lot of little perks like free gym, discounted meals at the university restaurants (like $5 for all-you-can-eat), free classes, lectures, art, etc, etc. It's a community. CCi is a sweatshop with crazy-eyes morons trying to act like managers.

Man. I got out. I had no classes for spring and turned down summer classes. Now I got a job making more per class with less than 20 students. And there is no retention program because students are there for an education. The for profit educational system is do broken. I am so happy to be back in not for profit. Look into it. It'll make your lives so free of stress. I'm back to being happy and not worrying constantly about losing more than ten students per class. Now I lose non again. Do yourselves a favor and give yourselves the gift of a better job/career.

I am an adjunct and got a letter of intent, not sure what this is worth if there are no online students being enrolled? No students = no classes.

OOPS should say:

I assume all instructors got letters of intent. So no real surprise there. I did. I think the COS office had some very good people and they should be offered jobs somewhere else, not made to apply for them. ECMC should do this for ethical reasons. I understand as a Business Professor the decision, but take care of the employees too, otherwise you may not have any good ones left. My thoughts
