Why are hard working employees being laid off and then contract employees being used to do their job?! Why must an individual that has worked 41 years in the field, who has never had any disciplinary action taken against him be laid off when he is so close to retirement?! Surely some higher paid individual at the top could stand to lose 2% of his salary to prevent that. A company that wants loyalty must be loyal to its employees.

Actually ops didn't get it nearly as bad as some of the others. About 15%. That's somewhere in the room but I figured they would. But drilling? 2 people. That is contrary to the whole premise of this layoff.
