Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Was this a pruning of the weak or culling of the strong - where is the logic?

I survived but see the holes left. Yes, I see a few holes where I'd expect to see them but mostly I see holes where once there were good and great people, people I trusted and enjoyed working with, people that delivered quality and made citrix great. I know layoffs are never easy but somehow a part of me felt the company could be healthier with a little clean out, but I look around now and don't understand, I don't understand the logic why laying good people off, key people can be good for the long term health of the company, where is the logic?

Two months later....it was political and financial. In my department, they laid off most mgmt. and people in critical positions. It was financial in that Florida ELT was given financial targets. Thus, high shilled = high salary. As always, a simplistic across the board cuts rather than taking time to do it right. Political in that reporting structures go through Florida and Santa Barbara.

Citrix ELT reports to the Shareholders. The FACT is the net-income took a HARD hit! They have to make it up. Look at CTXS;s Cash Flow... they are WAY over invested. Citrix has to appease the shareholders at the expense of great employees.

The pure fact is they cut any high salary employee who was in a jam, meaning they could not promote you. They also cut roles they could easily offshore.

BUT don't be fooled... there WAS politics involved as well. Great people got laid off while morons and idiots still get to keep their jobs. Whether it was salary, location, working relationships or whatever... In some cases the GM/VP had the power to choose who he/she let go.

End of day... It is business. We cannot dwell. Yes... I was laid off.

@NineLives: very unprofessional for you to know the salaries of other employees. makes one think your manager has loose lips. dirty pool, mister, dirty pool.

I have to disagree with the sentiment that it was all about the high salaried people who were cut. In my department, me and one other person make the most besides the manager, and we didn't lose our jobs.

As everywhere else in tech, seems to be hitting the older employees the hardest.

The criteria for layoffs is simple.

first comes high salaries, next is the underperforming staff, division where product now considered unimportant and last but not least those who challenge the status quo (trouble makers).

I was let go, I poured my heart and soul into Citrix made everyone around me either as good or if not better than me. There was no dog-eat-dog stigma here and I was really happy I found my professional endeavor rejoiced when joining Citrix 9yrs ago. I'm saddened and disappointed with the "TALENT, PERSONNEL and KEY DIFFERENCE MAKERS" that were put out. As I sit at home now and get reports of the names eliminated I can't help but wonder the core human people that gave Citrix the title "great place to work" are now gone. I ask why, because we paid them too much ----> News Flash TESLA @$$-H0L3 - you pay good money to retain the best talent and the best people. That's the core foundation you need to reinvigorate the remaining troops. Keep thE ones that embody Citrix culture (what used to be a culture) those are the ones that will ride the storm with you.

X5, Rizwan, Henshman, Mark (lost your balls) T = Kiss my @$$!

The losses from Citrix will just be another company's GAIN! Getting rid of top talent and dedicated employees was brutal of course for all those let go but hopefully those truly valuable will be snatched up quickly by other companies. If anyone knows who's hiring in IT and Engineering, please throw some companies out there that could benefit from this layoff.

Neither. This was not based on talent nor their last review. It was clearly based on finances, made by HR and people at a very high level. People who don't really know the intrinsic value of the resources they let go, only the financial value. So the logic makes sense if the goal is to cut expenses as quickly as possible. But it doesn't make sense for the customers, the teams they were ripped from, or Citrix in the long-run as some very highly talented, knowledgeable and awesome people were let go.

The whole exercise does not make much sense to me, just saying, cannot find any logic in the way how we executed this round of layoffs
