Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Dedication and Loyalty

This latest layoff is another example of Citrix non-discriminatory selection where past performance means nothing and being in the right place (India or North Carolina) means everything.

Who in their right mind of us left would give even a quarter of the same effort now? I'm not looking. I'll stick around and pad the resume and relax. Don't let them stress you out.

Loyalty?! Let me tell you something about loyalty: it does not exist from corporate side of things. It's a term used to guilt you into staying at your current job. Or at least that's what it means to me after 2 different layoffs in the last 6 years (starting with Citrix in 2009). Although I survived this cut, I completely rid myself of any delusions of loyalty from my employer toward me; and as such, I will reciprocate accordingly ;)

Pad the resume and go were. Is there any IT firm that layoffs are not the status quo? VMware has been constantly going through layoffs. They are not uncommon for Microsoft either. Short of a government job with low pay that also has layoffs a bit less frequently where do we go? I feel like this is just kinda the price we pay for being in such a volatile industry. Up until this I have been thrilled with Citrix.

Honestly, do you really think it's that simple.. they pulled names out of a hat based on what office you work in. Large corps hire specialized firms to review their spend and risk. I don't claim to know the formulas they use to determine who is expendable, but I guarantee there is such a formula. While sad, the cuts were strategic. I for one am glad I'm still employed and will continue to work hard, not for Citrix, for myself, because I take pride in what I do.
