Everyone is "entertaining possibilities" all the time. That is where LinkedIn generates revenue. I have a tenured prof. pal, and I think he is the only person who expects to stay at a job for life. Everyone else is looking for the next big opportunity. This would happen even if Heald was thriving.

I know for a fact that CEO is entertaining opportunities... What does that tell you?
Without a buyer, I think Heald is gone. If Heald does not sell and keeps running under CCI, they are gone anyway.
