Just read it. The numbers are not small and cannot be categorized as isolated incidents. Welcome home, but be prepared to put the REAL garbage out. Recycling won't work.

Nobody from FA came forward because the majority were actively and systemically complicit
Anonymous61260: You know, in my experience the Dept of Ed would absolutely not tolerate that or anything close to it. I'm wondering if we really had any whistleblowers in F.A. Or maybe we did but all they did was rant nonsensically without having bothered to put together a coherent letter stating regulations broken and the specifics of instances they witnessed. All Ed seemed to know about was that we had paid to temporarily place a few grads, that Admissions cited those false placement rates to prospective students, and that Genesis loans were predatory lending. I'm starting to think that despite all of the high-minded talk on here, that nobody went to the trouble of letting our government know what the hell has been going on. I'm an ex SF employee (7 years with CCI, left in July). I've seen a lot, but didn't think to write down student info or get proper documentation. Now that it looks like Everest will just change its name to Zenith and the employees, students and taxpayers will continue to be abused, I regret it. If I were in your place I'd know now that I could take the beast down and I'd be ready to do it if the shit continued.
Shuffling garbage
61210 -- they pull that one A LOT where I'm at (military area). Of course, when SFS then Socle took everything over, there was nobody who had actually met the student, or saw what she filled out on her admissions applications, or heard what she said. Nobody to question the bullshit that ends up on the FAFSAs, just a whole bunch of trained monkeys pressing buttons to process the aid. Well, that was harsh, but you're NOT a financial aid officer if you're not being discerning. Financial aid is supposed to be doled out carefully, with an eye out for fraud. CCI's policy is "regulations are anti-business and we get around them!" and it looks like our new masters at ECMC/Zenith are of the same mindset.
Yo, Hawn....Will you hear us? If not, screw you...we'll make your game public and take you down!
61177: And if ECMC doesn't clean up this crap, I'll be the one who alerted the 60 Minutes crew! Wouldn't it be awesome to catch an admissions rep on camera coaching a student to lie on the FAFSA?!? "My husband's deployed in the military and I'm a housewife." "Well then, you're going to put that you are separated and claim all your kids as dependents with no income. That'll get you a shitload of aid!!!"
Titanic - whoa there, don't be so sensitive! I agree with your sentiment, but just can't see Dave Hawn on this message board. Even if he was, I think it would take something more specific to get his attention. maybe it would make sense for us to send him our experiences and thoughts on how things could get better. Is any contact info for him available?
Maybe if Hawn won't listen to us, he will listen when the students get featured on sixty minutes. And wonder what he really bought at the fire sale!
164: I'm not so sure about Hawn and ECMC. On the one hand, they could very well be the same sort as Jack & Co (they have received bad press for aggressively harassing students and paying themselves exorbitant salaries/bonuses). On the other, they are very inexperienced in career ed, and could just be naive and trusting. maybe jack has really convinced them that the widespread fraud in the company was actually a few "isolated instances" and that the current management team is somehow competent. If that's the case, ECMC might not actually be willing to go along with illegal activity to make a few bucks. They might just not have any idea what the hell is going on. I have a very bad feeling that they are going to learn it through the mother of all government smackdowns!
61164, not sure if you have evolved to the point of recognizing that you are a tool, but I have been along for the whole ride. I am not an adjunct, and I have a pretty good idea of who you are. So stop the executive summary put downs. Grow a pair, talk to the media and recognize the potential for alliances, not divisions. Unless my radar is off, you are not generally recognized as a moron, so step up (or bend over).
Titanic -- not sure if you were born yesterday, but you seem to be trailing the rest of us in knowing what is going on. Maybe you're adjunct faculty and are sort of cut off from the business activities. Anyway, let me get you up to speed. Since may, when the SHTF, we've all been told "don't worry, there's a big plan in the works" from our highers up, who have been buying new cars, upgrading their homes, etc and who obviously have had reason to believe that nothing would change for them. Since the big ECMC deal was announced, we have been told that "ECMC trusts us absolutely and there will be NO changes in management or practices." Following the news, and seeing how the transition is playing out, it's pretty clear that they are right. ECMC has been part of the plan for a long time and have no plans to make any real changes. Jack and Crew don't have futures if this fails, but Dave Hawn and his group do. We can still put pressure on them to make reforms. Not directly - they won't be talking to us. Indirectly - through the media which will cause presure from outside groups (citizens, politicians). Stop wasting your time trying to reach out to hawn. he isn't reading this and he doesn't care.
