Thread regarding SAE Institute (formerly the School of Audio Engineering) layoffs

SAE San Francisco to close

I wonder if the Miami brass has really researched the compliance issues about incorporating the S.F. students into Ex'pression Emeryville. The difference in tuition is vast and the course levels do not compare. Courses are not transferable and Ex'pression is Bachelor degree granting. It's like "ready, fire, aim".

San Francisco could have been completely fine if it weren't for the catastrophic whims of "Group" and the mechanics of the company as a whole. Constant restructuring and reconfiguration does not yield growth. You can't stimulate high enrollment numbers with a mom & pop marketing budget and an embarrassingly low budget campus. And at the end of the day, let's be real: a "Diploma" is worth nothing.

its about the doing it the right way in the right time. With the differing accreditations, degree levels, they have to be smart about it.

I mean you had to figure that this would happen. You purchase one school and then start losing students and you have another campus however many minutes away. To me it makes sense to merge. I mean if I ran a business and I had 2 schools less than an hour from one another and they were both not doing well I would merge to. Don't get me wrong.....the SAE higher ups are some morons including the Aussies but it does make business sense to at least attempt to make this happen whether it can be done or not.

Udo was the VP of Finance years ago. That time was long and gone. And SF campus has turned around since then. It will merge with ExPression... But there are lots of hurdles.

Who's Udo? I think 60946 is speaking of San Francisco of a few years ago. The new (but laid off) Campus Director turned it around and even got rid of the career services person who "couldn't locate 13 students". The new Career services person turned it around while he was there.

They have no clue that you cannot just combine ACCSC and ACICS schools and curriculum, ESPECIALLY since they are different degree levels. This is not as simple as they think. It's also non compliant in several ways. I am seriously worried about this.

San Francisco was profitable.

SAE San Francisco was a cancer on the SAE system. Even if they shut it down and refund all the tuition for the few students, it would be a sound decision.

That facility was a joke. The studios were a joke. The staff was a joke. A Career Placement Director that couldn't locate 13 students? Give me a break! It was Udo's little play house where he was able to embezzle millions without being caught.
