2015 layoffs at Shell Oil

If the oil prices continue to fall, we will see major layoffs in 2015. I think we are in a very good position and she will be able to continue to be successful. At the same time I know that we have to manage profits, so nobody should feel safe today. Many of our competitors are preparing layoffs. Houston is not fun place to be at right now.

Shell is a great place to work. Hard work and success is rewarded. I have been with Shell for 13 years and in that time my salary had more than tripled. I have looked at other companies but no one can match what Shell offers. I am in Houston and I have only heard of a few people being let go and those are poor performers or contractors. Shell will let go of its talented people.

My experience is very different. It was one of the best Oil and Gas companies I worked for. The management actually knew what they were doing and pay was fairly high. At that time I was paid hourly so I appreciated the fact that I can work up to 12 hours / day, however after some time that became a bit too much and I left for a more sane job. It's the nature of the beast, you play by the rules.

2015 will be worse than any previous year, if you see prices falling even further than you have to be a pessimist. We always react to prices, and if this continues, good luck to all of us. All oil and gas companies are goint through the same thing right now.

Shell will lay folks off in 2015 for sure - Expect cuts in Houston, the corporate offices will be affected as there is too much fat over there
